The Opportunity: The Industrial Engineering team at Maple Leaf Foods supports all of Maple Leaf\'s manufacturing facilities across North America. The Industrial Engineering team works alongside factory leadership and the corporate head office, located in Mississauga Ontario, to lead disciplined decision making, direction setting, and identification of opportunities to maximize efficiencies across the manufacturing network.

We are seeking for an experienced leader for Maple Leaf Foods\' Industrial Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the company\'s manufacturing facilities, and will be working with the operations leadership and corporate teams to establish labour standards, measure / track / eliminate manufacturing variances, identify opportunities for process improvement and network optimization, as well as supporting medium / long-term strategic initiatives across Maple Leaf Foods. Success will be measured in the direct & indirect contributions the team has made in a challenging zero-based budget environment.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Leadership:
  • Mentor and manage a team of Industrial Engineering Specialists
  • Develop pool of talent to seed organization with process expertise
  • Ownership of labour standards:
  • Lead the establishment, measurement, tracking, and updating of the company\'s labour Bill of Materials to ensure the accurate costing of labour under a Standard-Cost Accounting system
  • Cost Reduction and Process Optimization:
  • Leverage tools such as time studies, method analysis, and line balancing to improve labour and asset utilization while minimizing waste through the entire value stream
  • Long Term Planning:
  • Lead the design and planning of MLF\'s manufacturing network to drive network optimization, supply chain efficiencies, commercial innovation, and capital investment strategies
  • Development & Innovation:
  • Provide manufacturing insight (cost, capacity, capability) on product innovation activities in support of sustainable and profitable growth
  • Lead factory innovations through external technology scans, benchmarking, dynamic simulations, and other tools
  • Strategic Initiatives:
  • Provide objective and analytical guidance to support the organization\'s sustainable growth
  • Other duties as required
What You\'ll Bring:
  • Industrial Engineering (or equivalent) degree at a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Professional Engineering designation (or eligibility)
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience. CPG or Food & Beverage preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience managing technical teams
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing production systems, lean and six sigma methodologies
  • Practical experience with Industrial Engineering tools such as labour standards, methods analysis, time studies, and line balancing
  • Knowledge of Sales & Operational Planning (S&OP), capacity management, Economical Order Quantity strategies
  • Organized and capable of working independently while managing multiple priorities
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data management
  • Technical curiosity and a questioning attitude
