Ideal Competencies: Leadership Skills: Responsible for directing and developing a multi-disciplinary engineering team, the Engineering Manager must demonstrate and establish a culture of trust internally and externally, while ensuring multiple projects develop in a timely manner to meet the overall business goals. Project Management: Using Engineering best practices and previous experience, the Engineering Manager will have strong project management skills, setting objectives and holding people accountable for meeting them, coaching to support implementation plans, and leading an effective implementation. Functional Responsibilities:
  • Oversee multi-disciplinary technical staff
  • Identify departmental strengths and limitations and work with executive staff to ensure all critical capabilities are met, either through additional training or expansion of the team.
  • Plan and manage projects in accordance with Zoeller Corporation values, ethics, and goals.
  • Establish and enforce guidelines/processes for project planning and management and formally approve all project and test plans.
  • Oversee test lab operations and ensure that methods and equipment are accurate, reliable, and safe.
  • Ensure that corporate standards for design, testing, and drafting are maintained.
  • Ensure that customer requirements and quality goals are met.
  • Work with manufacturing personnel to ensure that quality and production problems are properly addressed from root cause analysis to verification of corrective action.
  • Coordinate with staff in Louisville, Kentucky regarding the development of hardware (PCBAs) and firmware to meet project objectives.
  • Cooperate with and assist all other company personnel to help them succeed, as well as to ensure the Company\'s success.
  • Work to continuously improve the products and services provided by the Company.
  • Protect organization\'s physical and intellectual assets
  • Enhance organization\'s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
  • Explore opportunities to add value to projects for the benefit of customers and the Company.
People Management Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight and direction to the department\xe2\x80\x99s employees in accordance with the organization\'s policies and procedures.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
  • Empower employees to take responsibility for their work and goals.
  • Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for disagreement, expeditious conflict resolution, appreciation of diversity, cohesiveness, support, and cooperation to enable each employee and the department to succeed.
  • Consciously create a workplace culture consistent with that of the larger organization and which emphasizes the Company\'s core values.
Key Qualifications
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering preferred, Engineering degree in another engineering discipline, with previous experience in electrical engineering will be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of licensed experience in engineering as a P.Eng. with design experience
  • Registered Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Minimum of 4 years of management leadership experience, including leading multi-disciplinary teams to successful conclusions for technical projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant codes and standards used in Canada/Ontario and the United States such as: OBC (Ontario Building Code); OESC (Ontario Electrical Safety Code); CSA (Canadian Standards Association); IES (lighting standards); IEEE (Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards Association); NFPA (National Fire Protection Association standards); NEC (National Electric Code)
  • Construction Contract Institution of Civil Engineers Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Autonomous, strong sense of initiative, and detail oriented.
  • Presentation effectiveness, including the ability to define business opportunities, gather appropriate data to support, organize information, write presentations, and deliver to effectively influence key decision makers.
  • Financial acumen, including understanding key financial parameters, evaluating risks, and making appropriate decisions.
  • Information and communication management, including the ability to use current procedures and appropriate technology to manage information and communicate internally and externally.
  • Proficiencies in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Manufacturing experience
