Aecom Edmonton is recruiting a Systems Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and implement System Engineering plans and processes as well as ensuring that project teams operate in accordance with those plans and processes.
  • Experience in dealing with subcontractors and clients
  • Experience in System Assurance or in interfacing with SA teams
  • Able to manage complex projects and takes accountability for their scope of work.
  • Oversees project design activities for complex multidisciplinary projects
  • Works with bid and proposal teams.
  • Produces and/or reviews scope of works and estimations for rail systems activities.
  • Produces project reports and can implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Able to work with multidisciplinary teams and to working remotely with design teams.
  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
  • Is able to oversee and manage a large team. Fosters independence of the design teams. Creates an environment of trust and confidence. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits
  • Is able to manage work in a collaborative environment among many stakeholders and third parties
  • Communicates in an effective way and for diverse audiences
  • Trains professionals in a learn-by-doing approach
  • Fosters a safety culture and is seen as a safety role model.
  • Leads, manage and coordinate Systems Engineering processes with all other disciplines such as Civil, M&E, Architecture, Rail Systems etc.
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
  • Prepares technical specification sections.
  • Preparation of bids, proposals, or tenders, and develop and manage budgets and planning for activities and projects.
  • Able to elucidate the discipline of Systems Engineering and its techniques and processes
  • Develop and maintain liaison with the wider Systems Engineering and Systems Assurance global network, other units and individuals within and outside of the organization as well as with client\xe2\x80\x99s engineering, assurance, and project teams.

  • Reporting to Director level and works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
  • Supervises individual or group of engineers and/or technicians, and coordinating activities.


Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements :
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in an engineering discipline + 8 years of experience in Systems Engineering and Rail Systems in several Primary (and Sub-System/Elements) Rail Design Systems (TPS, OCS, S&TCS, comms & control, LV, MV, G&B, EMC), OR Technical Diploma + 10 years of experience in Systems Engineering
  • P.Eng
  • 8+ years of experience as Rail Systems Engineering Manager or Deputy Rail Systems Engineering Manager and/or discipline design lead with at least four years of Rail Systems Design Manager or Deputy Rail Systems Design Manager or Rail Systems Project Manager
  • 8+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with projects and their design lifecycles
  • Driving License

  • Preferred Qualifications :
  • Used to implement and work under the principles of following standards: IEEE 1220, IEEE 24748, ISO 15288 + 24748 + 29148: Systems Engineering Life Cycle processes & Requirements management; NFPA 130; EN50126 or IEC 62278
  • INCOSE CSEP certified
  • 15+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience is ideal in Systems Engineering
  • Project Management such as PMP or PRINCE2
