Industrial Electrician

Skill Requirements:



- Industrial Electrician Trade certificate (interprovincial license or Red Seal as an Industrial Electrician)

- Five years' experience in an industrial environment

- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in various assembly processes

- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner

- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

- Ability to perform strenuous physical labour

- Experience with PLC hardware and application troubleshooting

- Experience with quality control systems, variable speed drives, medium voltage switch gear, transformers

- Familiarity with instrumentation equipment is considered an asset

Summary of position:



The Industrial Electrician under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor will primarily be responsible to ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency in a safe manner. The position will maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at the end of the day. This role will also closely monitor machines for signs of problems while ensuring output is meeting set specifications. The Industrial Electrician must have knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in various assembly processes and ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Duties & Responsibilities:

- Ensure work is planned and performed in a safe manner

- Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency

- Repair, maintenance and installation of all electrical and instrumentation equipment such as limits, proxes, lighting and encoders

- Become familiar with plant PLC's, AC drives, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems

- Ensure outputs meet production schedules and quality standards, as well as customer needs

- Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at the end of day

- Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve safety, quality and productivity

- Communicate with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve electrical or quality issues

- Conduct start-up and testing, shutdown operations, and trouble shooting

- Read and interpret drawings, specifications and vendor manuals

- Undertake any other relevant tasks as requested by the Supervisor

Work Conditions:



- Exposure to hazards associated with the industry/trade

- Use of required personal protective equipment

- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time

- Operation and use of necessary tools, machinery, or equipment

- Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions

- Lifting, moving, or manipulating objects up to 40 lbs

- Climbing ladders, working at heights and in confined spaces
