HUMAN RESOURCES TRAINING SPECIALIST - FULL TIME
Position Title:
Human Resources Training Specialist
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Affiliation: Non-Union Salary Range: $44,008.12 to $48,619.12 annually (as per Schedule B) Competition Number: HRT-08-11
POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Training Specialist is responsible to ensure that the staff of Beendigen have a good training plan and to build the skills of employees to independent in their positions and to build leadership. The HR Training Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the new hire training curriculum, training new hires, database training and conducting refresh training and training for new programs with existing employees. For quality functions, the Human Resources Training Specialist will review develop and evaluate training programs in consultation with Human Resources Manager. The Training Specialist will also assume administrative duties as outlined in this job description.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • A College Human Resources Management Diploma or comparable diploma and minimum 1-3 years equivalent working experience in related discipline development, delivery, and coordination of employment related training programs.
  • Exceptional facilitation, presentation and listening skills.
  • Proven experience working in a collaborative setting, preferably not for profit
  • Knowledge and working experience with legislative requirements related to employment law
  • Thorough understanding of confidentiality
  • Work experience in developing and facilitating workshops
  • Ability to analyze and provide proactive solutions.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and effectively establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both written and orally,
  • Excellent time management skills with demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and effectively handle changing priorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and can be accurate and provide quality work.
  • Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of HRIS, applicant tracking systems, data entry, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, and Office 365 along with various office equipment
  • Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction and be able to improve performance through management feedback.
  • Reliable vehicle, appropriate vehicle insurance coverage and valid Ontario “G” class driver’s license.
  • Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records check. Valid 1st Aid/CPR.
  • A cellular phone and internet access are required within this position
  • This position is currently a in office position but with changing times there may be a time where we will return to a hybrid m You must be willing and able to work a flexible working week from home arrangement if required. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by Beendigen
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work from a wholistic perspective, utilizing the teachings of the medicine wheel and seven Grandfather Teachings.
  • Provide assistance, consultation and resources for best practices to further integrate Indigenous practices, ways of knowing and culture into training programs and professional development plans.
  • Facilitate learning and incorporate a variety of presentation methods and applications to accommodate adult learning styles.
  • Deliver and maintain new hire training and provide creative, effective classroom and remote instruction at all Beendigen locations.
  • Develop training modules for Beendigen on all positions suitable for online and in person training that is interactive and based on the program needs
  • Analyze results and identify gaps in training needs.
  • Maintains current knowledge of human rights, and employment standards guidelines/laws.
  • Assist with internal recruitment processes including job posting, transfers or promotion of selected employees ensuring all applicable standards in hiring are met.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources department as required.
  • Assists HR management in developing forms, systems and policies related to human resources
  • Assists in maintaining HRIS and the applicant tracking system to ensure smooth recruitment and accurate record keeping systems.
  • Recruit applicants for open positions, making public presentations regarding the organization and job opportunities; coordinating staff participation, set up, and work at job fairs
  • Inform potential applicants about facilities, operations, benefits, and job or career opportunities.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs analysis to ensure that training fulfills the needs and objectives of the program and organization.

  • In consultation with the Human Resources Manager, provide input into the development of employee development plans to include coaching, mentorship and provide metrics & feedback to the supervisor for annual appraisals.
  • In consultation with the Human Resources Manager, coordinate both internal and external team building activities at an organization-wide level.
  • Project yearly recruitment expenditures for budgetary consideration and control to the Human Resources Manager.
  • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups and employees and build networks
  • Utilize the Internet for recruitment, training, post positions to appropriate Internet sources and research new ways to use the internet for recruitment; use social and professional networking sites to identify and source candidates.
  • Advise managers and employees on staffing policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the orientation process and ensures all new hires receive and complete all necessary paperwork and HR onboarding tasks as required.
  • Project yearly recruitment expenditures for budgetary consideration and control to the Human Resources Manager.
  • Valid Drivers License and Insurance
  • Must provide proof of full Covid-19 vaccination or medical exemption
  • Travel when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES – ADMINISTRATIVE:
Complete reports and submit to Manager when required and by date due. Develop training modules/materials for all programs Complete and attend supervisions with Manager and team meetings, on a regular basis. Other reports or administration as assigned.

Promotes Beendigen at all times, when networking and events. Develop community partnerships that work to enhance the services provided by Human Resources To adhere to professionalism in always representing the organization Maintain excellent communication.
EXPECTED STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
Adhere to the Policies and Procedures as set by Beendigen. Leads and models expected behaviors as outlines in the Policies and Procedures of Beendigen. Representation on committees as required for the enhancement and benefits of Beendigens programs. To network and promote Beendigen and all Beendigen related programs. Maintain excellent communication. Always maintain professionalism. Adherence to the Code of Ethics and positive relationship building. The completion of functions outlined in the description and the achievement of goals set to a high level. Regular attendance and conduct at work according to the requirements of the Beendigens Policies and Procedures. To monitor and evaluate training programs and provide feedback to Human Resources Manager. Coordinating employee development training programs like; language courses, or health & safety courses, etc. Work as part of the Human Resources team and provide coverage for the Human Resources Assistant when needed. Evaluate current training processes and identify areas of vulnerability and opportunities for improvement. Participate in the management On-Call rotation. Submit reports to the Human Resources Manager.

That membership of the Staff Team contributes to the implementation of the organization’s strategic plan. Number of training days and training deadlines achieved and documented in HRIS. Established operational procedures for each task. Training manuals are up to date. Development of an employee-oriented organizational training manuals for optimum performance in each program. Enhanced skill level through training, learning and development.

To execute duties and responsibilities outlined in the job description.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Human Resources Training Specialist will be accountable to the Human Resources Manager for the proper completion of the functions outlined in the job description.
