Job Description

The Human Resource Specialist will run the daily functions in the specialized areas of recruiting, onboarding, retention, safety meetings, labor relations. This will include developing best practices around recruitment, retention, and labor relations with the union strategies by focusing on areas that create value for both the employees and the organization.

  • Follow recruitment strategy, recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for all open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Manage new hire orientation and employee onboarding programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs around benefits, and leaves, recognition, and morale;
  • Maintains compliance with Country and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field of study.
  • 2+ years HR experience. Entry Level
  • In depth knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
  • SHRM-CP , SHRM-SCP , PHR and/or SPHR certifications are a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software products.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work discreetly with highly confidential material.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Experience with Ceridian- Dayforce system a plus.
  • You must reside in Canada
  • Speak English and French
