Job Description

Paterson Grain is currently seeking a highly dependable, outgoing, and self-motivated professional to fill the role of Human Resources Generalist at our head office in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the HR Manager, the successful candidate will lead corporate recruitment, HR initiatives, and act as a key point of contact for managers seeking coaching on policies and practices. As an important member of our HR team, the Human Resources Generalist will also help support the HR Manager with a large variety of important projects.
Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, direct and participate in corporate recruiting activities to ensure vacant positions within the company are filled with the best available people, within our compensation range, in a timely manner;
Manage our foreign worker recruitment process;
Manage the On-Boarding and orientation of new Head Office employees;
Research employment and training grants and complete grant application administration;
Act as a champion of the organization's HR policies and procedures by communicating with managers and employees, ensuring consistency and compliance;
Stay abreast on compliance requirements and industry best practices; recommend changes or modifications to existing policies and programs to remain in compliance; and adopt best practices where feasible;
Monitor and provide guidance on disciplinary issues in cooperation with the legal department;
Provide HR Analytics to Senior Leadership;
Participate in college/university recruiting initiatives through attendance at Career Fairs and other post-secondary events;
Provide backup to the payroll function;
Assist the HR Manager with special projects and other duties as assigned;
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education (Human Resources preferred);
A CPHR designation, or CPHR Candidacy is considered an asset;
3+ years of experience in a HR Generalist role;
Experience in agriculture is considered an asset;
Strong sourcing skills and the ability to do cold-calling and head-hunting is considered an asset;
Excellent communication & presentation skills;
Exceptional commitment to customer service with demonstrated ability to build relationships with colleagues at various levels;
