QM Environmental is looking for the HR Generalist to fill a 12-month term position (Maternity Leave Coverage). Reporting to the Human Resources Manager you will be responsible for the management of HR activities and providing support to individuals nationally. As this role will primarily provide support across western Canada, remote work opportunities are available.
Working as part of the HR team, you will be accountable for the coordination of various human resource services including full cycle recruitment, benefits and system administration, employee life cycle maintenance, employee relations, reporting and legal requirements, HR initiatives and projects. You will provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with all departments and external partners, developing and cultivating strong working relationships to support a high-performance culture.
Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee the onboarding and offboarding process.
  • Full cycle recruitment including creating and posting jobs, screening resumes, completing phone and in-person interviews, communicating with hiring managers, offer letters, and onboarding.
  • Stay up to date with all employment legislation and regulations in Canada
  • Answer questions from employees and resolve complaints/incidents when needed.
  • Prepare employment letters and other correspondence as required.
  • Implement and administer employee policies and promote positive employee relations.
  • Benefits Administration: Health & Dental, GRRSP etc.
  • Provide support, guidance, and training to managers on hiring, employee relations, performance management, and terminations.
  • Systems Administration: hiring employees in MS Dynamics NAV; payroll set-up, updates, changes in Clarity. Migration to UKG / Kronos currently in process.
  • Providing day-to-day HR operational services, such as responding to HR admin requests (i.e., confirmation of employment for employee mortgage/loan applications)
  • Ensuring accurate management of personnel files and timely delivery of HR projects.
  • Assist with requirements for company security requirements, E-Rail Certification status and BNSF Contractor, etc.
  • Supporting the implementation of new HR processes and procedures
Qualifications Include:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Human Resources Management required
  • CHRP designation considered an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Generalist or Advisor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and in a constructive, professional manner with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgement to manage sensitive and confidential matters
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an expertise in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Knowledge and experience working with a HRIS (UKG/Kronos a strong asset)
  • Knowledge of HR and payroll integration systems
  • Strong administrative skills and high attention to detail
  • Highly organized problem solver with a track record of innovative thinking
