REPORTS TO: Vice President, Human Resources

POSITION OVERVIEW

If you're looking to gain experience to take your HR career to the next level, this is the opportunity for you. Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, you will act as a central reference point providing excellent customer service to our employee groups across Canada. From the receptionist to the CEO, you'll support our head office leadership team and our HR teams across Canada. You'll bring motivation, adaptability, and innovation across multiple HR functions ranging from recruitment to learning & development to employee relations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

TALENT ACQUISITION

  • Support key talent acquisition by coaching leaders on hiring needs and supporting the recruiting process including involvement in interviews and contractual agreements with external recruiting firms
  • Provide full-cycle recruitment support for Colas Canada salaried positions including job analysis, posting, candidate short-listing, interviewing, and job offer preparation
  • Create/revise job descriptions, ensuring consistency of content/qualifications based on future skill sets and needs
LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT
  • Coordinate onboarding with other departments and lead the onboarding program to assigned client groups
  • Support the design, development, and delivery of workshops, lunch-and-learns, and orientations
  • Optimize project documentation, translation, workshop content, and departmental processes
  • Respond to participant inquiries, scheduling conflicts, and vendor questions
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS & ADMINISTRATION
  • Manage onboarding and employee information in HRIS & payroll systems for assigned employee groups
  • Assist the Director, Total Rewards in the administration and communication of information regarding employee benefits, pension, and wellness programs
  • Support business leaders in resolving employee relations issues through effective coaching, problem-solving and training
  • Support employees and leaders with an understanding of policies and procedures
  • Build and maintain a high degree of connectedness to employees and managers of all levels in assigned client groups
  • Develop, plan and support HR projects and policy initiatives
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bilingual English/French
  • Post-secondary education in human resources, business, labour studies or similar
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in human resources
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations
  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems. Prior experience with SAP SuccessFactors or JD Edwards an asset.
