The Anglican Diocese of Ottawa is seeking a compassionate and highly organized Human Resources Generalist to provide full-spectrum HR support to its Community Ministries during a parental leave. This position is a key member of the central HR team and will work closely with local leadership to support all ministries: Belong Ottawa, Centre 105, and the Ottawa Pastoral Counselling Centre.
These ministries serve people experiencing homelessness, poverty, trauma, mental illness, and marginalization. The Human Resources Generalist plays a vital role in ensuring fair, consistent, and trauma-informed HR practices across a diverse and mission-driven workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding: Coordinate hiring processes from job posting to onboarding for unionized and non-unionized roles across all Belong Ottawa sites.
Employee Relations: Support managers and staff with guidance on performance issues, accommodations, and conflict resolution with a trauma-informed, equity-focused lens.
HRIS & Records Management: Maintain employee data and reporting through Ceridian Dayforce; manage personnel files, leaves, and documentation.
Health & Safety: Support compliance with occupational health and safety standards and coordinate related training and incident reporting.
Policy & Compliance: Ensure adherence to employment legislation and organizational policies; assist with policy updates and communication.
Training & Development: Coordinate training initiatives and professional development activities.
HR Administration: Process employment letters, coordinate benefits enrollment, and provide general HR support as needed.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in the non-profit or social service sector.
Demonstrated understanding of employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code).
Experience with Ceridian Dayforce
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and maintain discretion with confidential information.
Familiarity with trauma-informed workplaces and equity, diversity, and inclusion practices.
CHRP designation or working toward certification is considered an asset.
French not required
Working Conditions and Benefits
Full-time, 35 hours/week.
Hybrid work model with in-person presence required at program sites in Ottawa.
Occasional travel between sites and flexible hours may be required.
