Dessert Holdings is a leading baked goods platform providing premium layer cakes, cheesecakes, brownies, bars, and other desserts to the retail in-store bakery ("ISB") and foodservice channels on a largely private label basis. We are currently looking for an HR Generalist to join our team. As a member of the Human Resources team, you are an energetic professional ready to take on new challenges and open to work in a very dynamic environment. As an HR Generalist, you have primary responsibilities in a variety of human resources activities such as, employee relations, HR Compliance, Progressive Discipline, Attendance Management, WSIB Management, and HR project work.

Due to the Human Resources department's interface throughout the facility, ability to share accurate information, develop positive relationships and foster high customer orientation, adapt, learn quickly and progressively take on new responsibility will be paramount to success in this role.

Responsibilities and Contributions:

  • equitable application of policies and utilization of open-door policy.
  • Provide high-quality advice and service to management on daily employee relations and performance management issues and prepare termination/ severance letters
  • Proven experience in handling and dealing with WSIB matters.
  • Proven experience in conflict resolution and mediation of employee concerns
  • Ability to provide guidance to employees regarding Employment Standards and federal employment programs and ensure compliance with labor regulations
  • Conducting employee onboarding and help plan and monitor training & development
  • Support the HR department in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience
  • Provide exceptional employee support relates to various employee concerns and requests.
  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
  • Provide guidance to managers regarding performance management and disciplinary matters
  • Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, and organizing team building activities
  • Offer proactive recruiting assistance from outreach through screening, interview participation and decision coordination for various roles internally and externally.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with employment agencies to ensure the selection of the most qualified candidates.
  • Assist in development, change and implementation of HR policies and programs
  • Train and provide support to HR team members
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, employee turnover rates, time to hire
  • Organize quarterly and annual employee performance reviews
Position Requirements:
  • CHRP or CHRL designation preferred or working towards certification
  • Minimum of 4+ years' experience in HR, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving capabilities
  • Outstanding knowledge on Microsoft Office
  • Fantastic knowledge of HR functions and best practices
