We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our growing team at our Stampede North, Cambridge facility.
  • 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Act as the People Champion by being the first point of contact for onsite employee relations, providing advice and input on general issues
  • Recruit, interview and facilitate the hiring of qualified applicants for open position through collaboration with departmental supervisors to ensure a thorough understanding of skills and competencies required. Utilizing applicant tracking systems (ATS), online databases, and employee referral programs.
  • Drive the talent acquisition process, including sourcing, interviewing, job offer process and advising managers on candidate selection.
  • Maintain various recruitment trackers, and applicable spreadsheets.
  • Execute new employee orientation
  • Investigate employee complaints of misconduct within the organization. In addition to interviewing suspects, witnesses, gathering evidence and recording facts. Assist with administering activities, including preparing incident files, investigation timelines, and employee statements.
  • Provide counselling and advice to managers in areas of conflict resolution, employee relation and progressive disciplinary measures.
  • Act as a representative for the company during grievances, arbitrations, and collective bargaining agreement negotiations with the Union, when applicable
  • Follow collective agreement and provide support to plant/distribution supervisors in labor relations matters.
  • Responsible for maintaining employment relationships with outside recruitment agencies. In addition to ensuring that they are in continual compliance with the Contractor Portal
  • Facilitate and maintain the Confidential Reporting & Suggestion Program.
  • Maintain internal Disciplinary and Grievance trackers. Provide monthly Disciplinary and Grievance reports, ensuring that all records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Serve as an HR administrator for the HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce) system, including assisting in setting-up employee profiles, uploading employee information and other critical documentation.
  • Responsible for organization of physical and digital employee records. In addition to performing data entry and other administrative support.
  • Prepares and updates presentations, communications, reports, and other requests for data as required.
  • Provide backup for Payroll Administration (Ceridian Dayforce)
  • Assist with annual audits of internal policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • At least 3-5 years or related human resources experience in a unionized environment.
  • A post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or related discipline and / or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader (CHRP/CHRL) designation in progress or achieved is an asset.
  • Strong judgement and exceptional time management, organizational, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and focused listening skills.
  • A strong problem solver, who can apply sound judgment to a wide variety of situations.
  • Intermediate computer skill and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint).
  • Experience with collective agreement interpretation and best practices.
  • Experience with grievance procedure discussions/resolutions.
  • Ability to build trusting, respectful and positive working relationship.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with strong attention to detail.
  • High level of discretion, diplomacy, and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
