Our open-pit mine and concentrator in Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay - Vale\xe2\x80\x99s only fly-in/fly-out operation in Canada - produces nickel-cobalt-copper concentrate and copper concentrate. An underground expansion will see a transition to a leading-edge underground mine extending the life of the mine until 2034. Our state-of the-art facility in Long Harbour is the first nickel processing plant in the world to use hydrometallurgy technology to produce Plating RoundsTM from hard rock (sulphide) concentrate, with low carbon footprint compared to traditional smelter technology. A team of employees across the province provide support to the Newfoundland and Labrador Operations.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Human Resources Student for Spring 2023 to join our Vale Newfoundland and Labrador Human Resources Team based in St. John\xe2\x80\x99s, NL. This is a 4-month position working in a hybrid in person and working from home environment.

As a Human Resources Student, you will have the opportunity to further your development by providing day-to-day support for various projects and initiatives within the Human Resources Team. You will have a holistic and enriching experience like no other, with opportunities to learn and participate in talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, compensation, succession planning, leadership development, and more!

In this position, you will:

• Manage assigned projects in a manner that meets quality, time, and resource requirements;
• Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality in handling critical and sensitive information, records, and reports;
• Assist with Human Resources policy and program development and implementation;
• Complete data analysis using Excel and other internal systems;
• Have the opportunity to build relationships with people in the business;
• Potentially be given the opportunity to travel to Long Harbour and Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay Sites.

About You

• Currently enrolled as a student in a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-Op) Program.

• Concentration in Human Resources & Labour Relations is preferred.
• Solid verbal, written and analytical communication skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite \xe2\x80\x93 particularly Excel.
• Proven time management and organization skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and facilitation skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
