Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes. The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Human Resources Student for FALL 2023 to join our Vale Newfoundland and Labrador Human Resources Team based in St. John's, NL. This is a 4-month position working in a hybrid in person and working from home environment. As a Human Resources Student, you will have the opportunity to further your development by providing day-to-day support for various projects and initiatives within the Human Resources Team. You will have a holistic and enriching experience like no other, with opportunities to learn and participate in talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, compensation, succession planning, leadership development, and more! In this position, you will:

  • Manage assigned projects in a manner that meets quality, time, and resource requirements;
  • Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality in handling critical and sensitive information, records, and reports;
  • Assist with Human Resources policy and program development and implementation;
  • Complete data analysis using Excel and other internal systems;
  • Have the opportunity to build relationships with people in the business;
  • Potentially be given the opportunity to travel to Long Harbour and Voisey's Bay Sites.
About You
  • Currently enrolled as a student in a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-Op) Program.
    • Concentration in Human Resources & Labour Relations is preferred.
  • Solid verbal, written and analytical communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite ? particularly Excel.
  • Proven time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
