These are some of the reasons we are known as an employer of choice.About the positionThe incumbent serves as both a generalist human resources advisor and a staffing specialist for the Montreal head office and Canadian terminals. With the support of a multidisciplinary team, the incumbent helps employees and managers achieve their objectives and manage the HR challenges they encounter.They are responsible for the recruiting process from the identification of requirements to the onboarding of new employees. They shall oversee best practices in staffing. They shall also draw on their expertise to develop strategies that reflect the employerxe2x80x99s brand, consistent with Valeroxe2x80x99s vision.The human resources advisor embodies the values of the organization through their actions. They ensure compliance with policies and procedures; and with the applicable collective agreements and labour legislation.ResponsibilitiesGeneralist advisory role

  • Support supervisors and their teams in the management of performance by directing them to available tools and resources. Develop personal improvement plans when necessary.
  • Advise and support managers in disciplinary or administrative matters; coordinate some investigations, reframe expectations and assist the manager for meetings.
  • Support managers and provide information when roles within their team have to be changed.
  • Play an advisory role in the management of absenteeism for medical or personal reasons and see to policy enforcement in cooperation with the pay and benefits team.
  • Hold certain exit interviews, analyze data, formulate recommendations and take part in the development of ensuing action plans in conjunction with the human resources team.
Staffing
  • Develop and maintain relations with outside suppliers such as recruiting firms, posting portal organizations and academic organizations and institutions.
  • Conduct onboarding interviews with new employees and coordinates and follows up on the new employee integration program.
  • Seek and plan activities to raise Valeroxe2x80x99s visibility, attract potential candidates or network such as at job fairs, activities at universities, sectorial committees, exchange tables, etc.
  • Issue ad hoc reports and maintain performance indicators to monitor and improve HR programs and practices.
  • Replace, if need be, the human resources technician in some administrative functions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in industrial relations or human resources.
  • 3 to 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in human resources.
  • Member of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agrxc3xa9xc3xa9s, an asset.
  • Good analytical and listening skills.
  • Ability to work in teams.
  • Autonomy, interpersonal skills, availability, versatility and discretion are essential qualities.
  • Very advanced knowledge of English both orally and in writing.
  • Good knowledge of the Office Suite.
This position requires the incumbent to be available to travel to the Terminal in Montreal-East.Valero Energy Inc. is governed by the Charter of the French Language. However, knowledge of English is considered necessary for performing the tasks of this position. The individual in this position will be required to review documents and interact both verbally and in writing with colleagues at the head office in Texas or in other Canadian provinces, or with various stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, unilingual anglophone business partners.When working at our Company, your benefits will include :
