Furthermore, the Town is committed to being responsive to the needs and desires of the community to improve and enhance our services.” The Town of Devon has an immediate and exciting career opportunity for an experienced Human Resources Advisor to join our team. This is a permanent part-time (0.80) position working at 30 hours/week. Reporting to the CAO this position maintains and enhances the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs and practices. This role coordinates all aspects of the Human Resource functions including recruitment and selection, performance management, compensation and benefits, training and development, and employee/labour relations in support of the needs of the Town. What will you do?

  • Works closely with senior management on issues related to employment, including organizational development, recruitment & selection, retention, employee relations, and performance management
  • Provide sound advice on HR related matters to leaders within the Town of Devon
  • Manages the Town’s performance management processes and coaches managers and supervisors on conducting effective performance reviews
  • Responsible for providing orientation and onboarding of all new employees
  • Remain current with human resource strategies and best practices
  • Maintain electronic employee files, ensuring completeness of records (contracts, performance reviews)
  • Review job descriptions and organizational structure to provide sound recommendations to leaders as to where organizational efficiencies can be achieved
  • Assist and resolve complex employee relation issues through effective, thorough, and objective investigations; develop and implement recommendations
  • Work closely with Payroll & Benefits
  • Permanent member of the Health & Safety Committee and promotes the Employee Health and Wellness program
  • Ensure that the Employee/HR Handbook is up to date
  • Administer position classification and salary administration programs, including assisting with wage/labour market surveys
  • Provide recruitment and staffing support to leaders by participating in employee interviews, conducting background checks, preparing offer letters/contracts, and ensuring that a fair process is being followed.
What you bring
  • University degree in a related field (Business, Human Resources Management)
  • CHRP designation would be an asset.
  • 5+ Years of progessive experience as a human resources generalist.
  • Equivalencies will be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with the use of HRIS systems
  • Sound knowledge of human resources best practices and employment related legislation
  • Experience in the Municipal sector is an asset
Salary: $57,007.08 - $71,821.60 per annum (0.8 FTE). This is a part-time permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
