Job Duties
Job Duties The Human Resource Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting clients with their staffing needs, which includes the attraction and retention of a talented workforce, as well as providing job evaluation analysis and assisting with employee relations issues. Guided by the employee life cycle model, the Human Resource Coordinator will work with and support the human resource consultant team to problem solve matters and ensure consistent and effective service to clients. As the institution evolves in our business, services and culture, the Human Resource Coordinator will continue to advance in service and support.
There are three HR Coordinator positions located across the province to serve clients in a client-service model. This client-based assignment allows the position to be located in any of our four geographic centers (Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Regina or Moose Jaw). The HR Coordinator position is part of the broader human resource advisory services team that includes one manager (HR Systems and Reporting) and two HR Advisory services managers, nine human resource consultant positions, three human resource assistants and four human resource analysts (team lead, data analyst and 2 system analysts) ultimately report to the Manager, HR Advisory Services. The Human Resource Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Human Resource Consultants on diverse tasks that will support the assigned client portfolios and will directly report to one of the HR Client Services Managers.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
Specific Accountabilities
Recruitment
A significant role in this position is managing the recruitment process (full cycle recruitment) in support of client areas. This will include job posting development and advertisement, screening, assessment and interviewing, and hiring/onboarding. Recruitment is supported by technology to create a seamless experience for candidates and support effective and efficient recruitment by the HR lead.
Consult with clients and Human Resource Consultants to ensure current job information and classification and identify special occupational requirements as required prior to posting.
Develop and implement recruitment strategies for hard to recruit or highly specialized/skilled positions.
Ensure salary recommendations are appropriate and equitable and within the parameters of the collective agreements or policies, and where needed, collaborate with the Compensation and Benefits team to determine appropriate pay.
When needed, assist in LR matters related to recruitment activities and process.
Client Services
Develop an understanding of the client\xe2\x80\x99s business and operational needs with an emphasis to recruitment, selection and onboarding of new/existing staff.
Provide input regarding HR practices and processes, or where opportunities for improvement exist.
Support new employee orientation and training needs for clients in the areas supported. This will be particularly focused on recruitment and onboarding to provide an exceptional experience for candidates and employees, and to reinforce the value of employees in the success of our organization.
Job Evaluation
Provide support to the Human Resource Consultants on job evaluation, ensuring job descriptions are accurate and reflective of the work being performed.
Provide advice, guidance and support to clients and employees in job description writing, as well as working with Human Resource Consultants to complete and make recommendations on classification.
Process job evaluation results and translate any changes into the recruitment processes and other life cycle areas.
HR Operations
Assist with analysis of human resource analytics and metrics to support employee life cycle and in recruitment experience and success.
Assist with the implementation of new HR initiatives.
Keep up-to-date with human resource best practices in other comparable institutions and drive for continuous improvement within internal HR practices, as well as conducting research on specific issues as required.
Ensure confidential and sensitive information is protected at all times.
Identify opportunities to enhance HR services to clients based on patterns and experience. The focus on continuous improvement will be important in all areas and for all positions in HR.
Relationship Building Internal
Create strong, proactive relationships with fellow HR team members and client support areas. Identify where other HR services such as labour relations, organizational effectiveness, HR strategy and health, safety and security can support client needs.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with other Saskatchewan Polytechnic clients/employees and campus community focused on providing clear and effective information, advice and resources.
Establish and maintain effective client service ensuring information is provided in a concise and timely manner.
External
Build relationships with and respond to requests from external agencies, government and other educational institutions.
Partner with other agencies providing support services to Sask Polytech such as recruitment service agencies and other partners.
Duties
Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA) A diploma in human resources, or related discipline with additional post-secondary human resource education along with a minimum of two years of human resources experience is required, preferably with recruitment and selection. A professional human resources designation and experience working in a unionized setting would be an asset.
