We are looking for a highly motivated Human Environment Specialist with experience in Indigenous engagement, community engagement, Indigenous Knowledge, or socio-economics. Any arch experience is a bonus. Candidates that have direct experience working with Indigenous Nations and local communities in engagement programs, Indigenous Knowledge and Traditional Use Studies, as well as environmental assessment will all be considered. The successful candidate will have a passion for the work and excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills, and will play a key role in contributing to Ausenco\xe2\x80\x99s Human Environment team. About the Role

The role is flexible and has many different opportunities for growth!

Our team:

  • Plans and supports engagement programs with and for Indigenous Nations and local communities on interdisciplinary projects;
  • Acts as specialists supporting work related to Indigenous Knowledge and Traditional Use on interdisciplinary projects;
  • Supports and leads the design, delivery, and reporting of Indigenous, community, and stakeholder engagement activities, Indigenous Knowledge and Use related projects, as well as socio-cultural research programs and related community engagement.
  • Conducts qualitative data analysis and interpretation;
  • Prepares well researched and written deliverables, in accordance with best practices, any preferences and/or protocols identified by respective Indigenous Nations, and/or provincial, territorial and/or federal regulatory requirements;
  • Leads Indigenous and socio-cultural related research programs, including baseline reports, effects assessments, cumulative effects assessment and other similar types of deliverables;
  • Coordinates, organizes and delivers socio-cultural research programs and related community engagement initiatives;
  • Plans and supports engagement programs that facilitate communication with Indigenous communities across Canada, sometimes in rural and remote settings;
  • Delivers baseline reports, effects assessments, engagement summaries, and other similar types of deliverables;
  • Prepares socio-economic related materials, including baseline reports, impact assessments and other similar types of deliverables;
  • Writes technical reports, and analyses and interprets data; and
  • Contributes to proposal writing.
Qualifications

About you

The right candidates will have a degree in social sciences, the humanities, natural resource management, geography, environmental assessment, communications or related field of study. Suitable professional and technical experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.

Our team members are familiar with applicable provincial/territorial regulations and a working knowledge of related municipal, provincial and federal laws, regulations and practices.

Prior experience liaising with Indigenous communities, provincial regulatory bodies, municipal staff and other levels of government is an asset.

Strong interpersonal, project management, and communication skills including excellent writing skills and public speaking experience is required.

Eligibility to hold archaeological permits in Alberta and/or Northwest Territories (or working towards permit holding status) is a bonus.

As a successful candidate, you will:
  • Have excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Possess a valid driver\'s license.
  • Have proven project management skills, as well as the ability to multi-task, and perform under tight timelines.
  • Be comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
  • Have the ability to travel and work in the field for extended periods of time and sometimes in remote locations.
