We are currently recruiting an HR Manager for one of our valued clients. The ideal candidate is an HR Professional that regards themselves as a trusted advisor to owner/management teams that can effortlessly present the risks and rewards while using HR best practices when discussing strategic human capital planning and is passionate about recruiting. The HR Manager is a critical role that aligns the organization's business goals with HR programs, policies, and overall strategy.This position reports directly to the ownership team and is responsible for providing a wide variety of HR functions. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality with a strong team-oriented attitude. The successful incumbent will have the opportunity and creativity to develop HR related programs, policies and communications.Our client is a privately held, national company whose subsidiaries operate in a variety of industries including transportation, logistics, heavy-duty equipment dealerships, equipment leasing & rentals.This role is located in Mississauga and requires travel to their Milton location a few times throughout the year.Responsibilities:

  • Develop HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of business objectives and desired organizational culture.
  • Facilitate and lead system/process enhancements, in collaboration with the HR Generalist, identifying opportunities to improve HR services and productivity through the organization's HRIS, Dayforce;
  • Deliver a wide range of HR services in the areas of recruitment and selection, on boarding, succession planning, leadership development, talent management, performance management, employee relations and recognition.
  • Lead the Performance Management and Annual Review process, including goal setting, annual reviews, calibration, and annual increases.
  • Provide day to day HR services to employees and managers.
  • Develop required correspondence relating to approval or denial of requests for leaves of absence, sick leaves, resignations, and other leaves in accordance with ESA.
  • Assist management/supervisory staff and pro-actively recommend modifications and/or solutions to address employee-related issues including disciplinary initiatives.
  • Identify gaps and create Human Resource services and programs.
  • Develop, implement and manage effective employee communication vehicles including orientation program, policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Human Resources or 3-5 years of progressive experience in HR
  • Transportation, trucking, logistics industry experience is required.
  • People oriented and results driven.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of all relevant federal and provincial legislation, including Employment Standards Acts; Employment Equity; Human Rights; Health and Safety, Privacy legislation, etc.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Agile, open to change and ability to think outside the box.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices and trends.
