Job Summary: Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department through communication of policies and procedures and updating the HR systems accurately. Required Education and Experience:
  • Completion of degree in Human Resources Management (or related)
  • Working towards Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP) preferred
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
  • Knowledge of HR best practices
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is an asset
  • Union/labour relations experience is an asset
Essential Functions:
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Company's Performance Management systems; Performance Appraisal process, Progressive Discipline process, and Performance Improvement Plans
  • Assist with full cycle recruitment tasks; job description creation, sorting resumes, job postings, interviewing, offer letters
  • Assist with employee relations issues, including harassment investigation; ensure proper documentation and timely follow-up of all performance management, up to and including termination
  • Assist payroll by entering new employees into the HRIS (WFN), as well as making required changes to personal information, job titles, pay rates, etc.
  • Manage the temporary worker population
  • Assist in tracking and reporting of key performance indicators, such as absenteeism, headcount, and turnover
  • Assist with employee leaves related to Workers' Compensation, disability, and ESA leaves
  • Coordinate the Martinrea Orientation Model training for all temporary and full-time employees. Complete the necessary administration to ensure they are entered into the HR and payroll systems accordingly
  • Ensure all system requirements are being met for tracking of company training - update employee/department training records in HR systems, update employee files and follow up where necessary
  • Assist employees with payroll and benefit questions and submission of forms
  • Conduct new hire and benefit orientations for employees
  • Assist employees with concerns and answer questions on the Martinrea Employee Handbook and other HR related questions
  • Maintain employee files and communication boards by keeping communication boards current and ensuring employee files are neat, organized, and up-to-date
  • Plan and organize company sponsored events and activities
  • Identify and implement improvements for HR Department to ensure it runs as efficiently and effectively as possible
  • Environmental Health and Safety
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
Work Environment:
  • 80% Office environment, 20% Plant floor (PPE required)
  • Constant communication with employees, peers, and management. Shop Floor presence mandatory
  • Overtime as required
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work on computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to be present on the production floor on a daily basis
Health and Safety:
  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
