About the HR Generalist Opportunity

We are a fast-growing startup looking for a highly motivated HR Generalist to work out of our Mississauga office. This role will be responsible for building the HR functions at Trexo, including building a recruitment strategy to hire amazing and talented individuals to support our growth journey.

In the HR Generalist role, you will:
  • Provide strategic advice and insights while working with the leadership team to develop people strategies to effectively build the organizational capability required to achieve business goals
  • Develop and deliver key HR programs including onboarding, employee engagement activities, performance management, compensation planning, talent assessment & succession planning, workforce planning, talent acquisition, etc.
  • Execute operational aspects of the human resources function such as onboarding, offboarding, system updates & record management, benefits program administration, HR policies and procedures, payroll, reimbursements, job descriptions, exit interviews, etc.)
  • Lead all aspects of recruitment and staffing: post positions, initial screening of resumes, co-ordinate interviews, develop offer letters/contracts, conduct reference checks, apply for grants and report on progress against staffing targets to the Executive team
  • Establish HR practices, policies, and structures to support business objectives, and ensure that all HR practices and policies are delivered in a fair and compliant fashion that are consistent with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Support the effective management of employee relations issues and provide counsel to management on employee relations matters
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to members of the management team and other key talent
  • Drive employee engagement in an evolving culture; partner with the leadership team to ensure an inclusive and engaged workforce and ensure proactive communications, both internally and externally
  • Build KPIs to track employee onboarding and engagement surveys
  • Organize team-building and culture events
  • Maintain knowledge of current best practices and trends in human resources, including relevant legislation
  • Build and manage our HR platform (Humi)
  • Develop and maintain long term recruiting channels such as University Co-op Programs with occasional travel required to universities and other recruitment events
  • Office Administration activities such as ordering supplies, organizing cleaning contracts, and office moves and changes
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications of the HR Generalist:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree and/or post-graduate diploma in human resources management
  • CHRP/CHRL designation is preferred
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience with an emphasis on recruitment (particularly tech roles) with a keen eye for finding great talent within the technology sector
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and other software applications; experience with Airtable is an asset
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to present ideas crisply and concisely at all levels of the organization
  • Strong relationship management experience with an ability to influence/coach at all levels with a high level of leadership skills
  • Embodies a customer service mindset, operates as a value-added business partner with a solutions orientation
  • Self-motivated and enjoys being accountable for results
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to take information and summarize to relevant points
  • Objective, resilient and flexible in order to manage organizational and personnel issues
  • Maintains confidentiality and manages sensitive situations with excellent judgment and discretion
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects and priorities concurrently
  • Detail-oriented and methodical
