The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an HR Business Partner (HRBP) to add to our team at our Westeel location in Winnipeg. HRBP is a key partner to local leadership, providing critical support in creating a productive and positive culture in a manufacturing environment. The HRBP will oversee all people related matters and support the leadership group with employee and labour relations matters and provide strategic advice. The incumbent will collaborate with Corporate SMEs on recruitment, learning and development, application of company policies and practices, and supports administration of payroll and benefit programs.
The Team
The HRBP, reports directly to the Sr. Vice President of Human Resources and is a key partner to local leadership, providing critical support in creating a productive and positive culture.
Responsibilities
\xc2\xb7 Partner with the local leadership team and AGI Corporate HR and regional teams to understand and execute AGI\'s human resource strategy and support with a wide variety of activities.
\xc2\xb7 Provide leadership in areas including workplace conflict, performance management, progressive discipline, terminations, contingency planning, etc.
\xc2\xb7 Lead collective agreement negotiations, grievance proceedings, and meetings with the union personnel.
\xc2\xb7 Advise managers in the interpretation and implementation of collective agreements & employment legislation as well as with complex employee and labour relations issues.
\xc2\xb7 Foster positive working relationships between management and labour partners.
\xc2\xb7 In collaboration with the North American talent acquisition team, support local recruiting activities by participating in the interview process inclusive of interview, facilitating onboarding, and working with management on their staffing needs, questions and issues.
\xc2\xb7 Prepare HR and management documents and maintain accurate employee files, electronic records and documentation.
\xc2\xb7 Partner with location leadership team on workforce planning requirements including talent acquisition, employee development, performance management and succession planning.
\xc2\xb7 Provide support and leadership in delicate situations such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, terminations and unemployment claims.
\xc2\xb7 Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation and conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
\xc2\xb7 Review and prepare government required reporting documents.
\xc2\xb7 Support as required in the implementation and gradual adoption of the organization wide HRIS.
\xc2\xb7 Align with Training and Development team to support employee development and progression.
\xc2\xb7 Maintain compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations, with continuous review and recommendation of changes and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
\xc2\xb7 Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
\xc2\xb7 Support health and safety activities and employee return to work plans.
\xc2\xb7 Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
\xc2\xb7 Bachelor\'s Degree in HR Management, Safety, Training, Business Administration, or related field. A certification in HR such as CPHR will be an asset.
\xc2\xb7 5+ years of HR Generalist or HR Business Partner experience ideally in a manufacturing, distribution or industrial setting is preferred.
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge or familiarity with managing employee and Labour relations issues with the demonstrated ability to foster positive working relationships between management and union groups.
\xc2\xb7 Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills.
\xc2\xb7 Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
\xc2\xb7 Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
\xc2\xb7 Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
\xc2\xb7 Strong collaborator, able to navigate all levels of the organization with confidence and empathy.
\xc2\xb7 Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
\xc2\xb7 Mentor mindset, with interest in building teams and relationships across the organization.
\xc2\xb7 Familiar with the design and implementation of full-cycle performance management programs.
