JANIN ATLAS INC., a subsidiary of VINCI Construction Grands Projets, part of the VINCI Group, construction worldwide leader, specialized in the design and construction of major civil engineering and building works in Canada is hiring an HR Business Partner What is the project? A six-kilometre tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River). The scope of the Project includes the design, construction, and handover of all tunnels (twin tube of 6 km each), 7 stations (turnkey for: 1 station at grade and 6 underground stations) and civil works. What you will do: Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Business Partner is responsible to support the Human Resources Department on the strategic objectives of the Ontario Line South project, with specific attention to the Labor relations requirements within the workforce. The incumbent will drive a proactive workplace culture through communication and collaboration, administration of policies and procedures, and embody Ontario Transit Group s core values. In addition, they will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives, while ensuring compliance with employment legislations and regulations. Concretely, your tasks will be:

  • Work closely with the HR leadership team to develop, monitor, review and update all policies, in accordance with current legislation and best practices;
  • Manage the application of collective agreements in a multi-site environment, maintain a cordial working relationship with Ontario Transit Group s Trade Unions, and liaising with shop stewards and business representatives;
  • Lead grievance investigation and resolution, tracking reoccurring issues and providing lessons learned;
  • Identify training and development needs and design a training plan for the managers of its client group;
  • Work in partnership with managers on performance management, employee relations, resource allocation, and talent management and development;
  • Collaborate with HR management on various analytics and evaluations (salaries, position management, benefits, etc.) and special HR projects/initiatives (for example, succession planning);
  • Compile and maintain various HR reports and key performance indicators;
  • Keep a pulse on employee engagement, satisfaction, and Project culture;
  • Guide and support performance management, providing constructive feedback and solutions for employees and managers;
  • Manage reporting and employee data including seniority lists, absenteeism, disciplinary history, etc.;
  • Lead logistic and administrative preparation for terminations, exit interviews, and separation agreements as necessary;
  • Interpret and explore employment law and HR best practices to ensure advice and guidance is both accurate and up-to-date.
Who we are looking for:
  • 10 years of HR experience in an advisory capacity within a unionized environment (construction, industrial, or manufacturing environment, an asset);
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with local employment laws and labor relations;
  • Client focused and service orientated, with demonstrated leadership and ability to establish and maintain relationships with staff;
  • Ability to use discretion and diplomacy;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with a high degree of professionalism;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to identify and implement effective and creative solutions;
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic, thrives in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to evolve with ease in a large corporate structure;
  • Working towards or completing CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset;
  • Travel to locations across the Ontario Line South in downtown Toronto is required.
