Job Title:\xe2\x80\xaf Homelessness prevention & Outreach Coordinator -\xe2\x80\xafFull time position Reports to: \xe2\x80\xafExecutive Director\xe2\x80\xaf This position requires a person with lived experience and working with Black communities and deserving/marginalized/ at risk of homelessness individuals and families. Speaking French and other African languages would be a benefit to the organization. Our Service focus region is Surrey and Langley. Duties:
  • Supervise outreach workers and volunteers.
  • Develop and implement systems and processes to manage workflow.
  • Assess client needs through interviews and discussions to determine the type of social services required.
  • Assess intake applications for Rental and Utility assistance, collect confidential documents and information in a secure manner, enter data and maintain confidential client files.\xe2\x80\xaf
  • Assist clients with all aspects of housing search and placements.
  • Sourcing Housing set up items (furniture, clothing, grocery)
  • Coordinate with movers when clients are ready to move.
  • Assist client with money management tools.
  • Education and Advocacy on landlord tenancy rights.
  • \xc2\xb7Refer clients to Community Service providers.\xe2\x80\xaf
  • Network with other service providers and market the services of the Society.
  • Monthly reports.
  • Organize events and workshops for clients.
Qualifications:\xe2\x80\xaf
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience working with vulnerable low-income populations.
  • Social Services Worker Diploma or related education preferred.\xe2\x80\xaf
  • Ability to relate positively and sensitively with vulnerable people, in varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.\xe2\x80\xaf
  • Knowledge of relevant Resources from Community Service Providers.
  • Excellent Financial Literacy, Computer, and administrative skills.
  • Great communication and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills and ability to multi-task, while maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Compassionate with teamwork skills.
  • Satisfactory Criminal record check clearance.
  • Valid Canadian Drivers\xe2\x80\x99s License with a satisfactory Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract and access to a car.
This position is dependant on funding and is renewed annually. Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $28.00-$31.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 35 per week Benefits:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

  • Bachelor\'s Degree (preferred)
