ABOUT THE POSITION

As the Health & Safety Manager, you will be a crucial leader in fostering and maintaining a strong safety culture across the organization. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.

DUTIES

Design, develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with federal and provincial occupational health and safety legislation, as well as relevant industry standards. Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential workplace hazards. Develop and implement effective control measures, including engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) programs. Lead and participate in the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses. Analyze root causes, recommend corrective and preventative actions, and ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements. Develop and deliver engaging health and safety training programs for employees at all levels, (hazard identification, safe work procedures, emergency response, and regulatory compliance). Ensure effective communication of safety information throughout the organization Compliance and auditing: stay up-to-date with changes in occupational health and safety legislation and standards. conduct regular internal audits and inspections to monitor compliance with established programs and regulatory requirements. Facilitate external audits as required. Work collaboratively with management, supervisors, employees, and joint health and safety committees to promote a proactive safety culture and address safety concerns. Act as a resource and point of contact for all health and safety-related matters. Liaise with regulatory authorities, such as WorkSafe BC, as required.
ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field. A diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with significant relevant experience may be considered. Certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is highly preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in a health and safety management role, preferably within a similar industry. Thorough knowledge and understanding of Canadian/US occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards. Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control methodologies. Experience in developing and delivering health and safety training programs. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft office suite (word, excel, PowerPoint). First aid and CPR/COR certification is considered an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
