The Health and Safety Coordinator, reporting to the National Health & Safety Leader, is invested in the creation of a world-class Health, Safety, and Wellness (HS&W) culture, which supports the overarching vision of \xe2\x80\x9cNo One at Emco Gets Hurt.\xe2\x80\x9d The coordinator will be responsible to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive range of HS&W initiatives to meet the goals and legal obligations of Emco Corporation. These functions include, but may not be limited to, program development, safety assessments and inspections, evaluation of Profit Centre (PC) safety programs, environmental safety, and policy development and implementation, Health and Safety (H&S) incident management and investigations, and H&S data governance. The Health and Safety Coordinator works closely with management and teammates to provide guidance in all matters related to HS&W.

Job Responsibilities

H&S Incident Tracking, Reporting and Follow-up

  • Lead the process of tracking and reporting H&S incidents from inception to completion. This includes reconciling the status between internal incident records and third party WCB board records, ensuring timely follow-up and communication of incident status
  • Coordinate with Emco\xe2\x80\x99s third party WCB claims management team (Windley Ely), the Payroll and Benefits team administrators and PC Managers (PCMs) as needed throughout the life of active WCB claims
  • Conduct post-incident investigations when needed including interviews with injured teammates to effectively track root causes and corrective actions
  • Process WCB invoices, statements, payroll assessments, and payments as required by each jurisdiction
HS&W Policy Maintenance and Support of Strategic Priorities
  • Support the National Health and Safety Leader regarding key priorities including:
  • Write, publish, and communicate policies, supplements, job aids and best practices that support sustainable safe workplaces.
  • Provide tailored recommendations for annual regional priorities including supporting annual health, safety and wellness forecast reviews
  • Facilitate regular regional HS&W meetings that provide a platform to communicate new requirements, review performance, highlight trends, develop action plans, and review progress
  • Assist in the research, interpretation, and implementation of applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • Facilitate the development and publishing of Safe Work Procedures (SWP) by reviewing PC SWP submissions, recommending required changes, communicating finalized SWP to PCs during Regional and National calls to ensure implementation at PCs
HS&W Data Governance and Analytics
  • Ensure HS&W resources available on Emco\xe2\x80\x99s intranet (OneEmco) are regularly reviewed and updated as required.
  • Track and maintain WCB rate performance, claims cost data, and clearance certificates
  • Support PC and Regional teammates with H&S data requests
  • Track, analyze and communicate data analytics and performance trends relative to expectations for all HS&W metrics
  • Coordinate with the Internal Audit team and the National Health and Safety Leader to identify data trends, inconsistencies and/or anomalies that require further investigation
Training and Learning Management Support
  • Take a leading role in the creation, publication, evaluation, and regular review of HS&W resources and training materials for PCMs and teammates
  • Support requests and inquiries regarding Risk Management training requirements and troubleshooting. Coordinate with HRIS and/or Training Support teams when necessary
Product Recall Communication
  • Lead the product recall data review and communication process to ensure PCs and customers are made aware of recall notices, and expectations of the recall process and remain in continuous contact with Health Canada
  • Coordinate with the NSC Vendor Relations and Product teams when a product has been recalled.
  • Track product recall status and complete follow-up activities with the vendor relations team, PCs and Health Canada.
Qualifications
  • University Degree or College Diploma
  • Proven S.W.A.N. qualities (Smart, Works Hard, Ambitious, Nice)
  • Positive attitude and results oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, vendors, and teammates
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, challenges the status quo, and has a strong focus on enhancing efficiency and results
  • In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety standards and legislation
  • Proven ability to leverage data to identify risks and opportunities for change, make recommendations for improvement, and implement actions effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, TEAMS, and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to learn new skills and assist in cross-departmental projects and initiatives as needed
The following skills would be considered an asset:
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Previous experience with data analytics or business intelligence (BI) software
  • Experience in creating effective training materials to enhance awareness and knowledge of teammates regarding HS&W
  • Bilingualism (French & English)
Salary Range: $50,000 to $60,000 per year, which will be determined based on the candidate\'s experience and qualifications.
