We are seeking a permanent Health and Safety Coordinator to assist our Health and Safety Manager with all OHS-related matters. This will be a Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday in-office role, based in our offices located a short distance from downtown Fort McMurray.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Health and Safety Manager with all OHS-related matters.
  • Occasional travel to sites to complete inspections and review health and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal OHS laws as well as Hatfield\xe2\x80\x99s Health and Safety Management Plan, and our clients health and safety protocols.
  • Lead and participate in Hatfield\xe2\x80\x99s Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
  • Assist with new hire health and safety orientations and ensure all required training has been completed and documented. Includes onsite orientation and training requirements.
  • Review all safety incidents, record and compile data, and assist in development of management strategies to prevent incidents from occurring.
  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis, and then compile incident investigation reports in a timely manner and in accordance with provincial requirements.
  • Management of safety document databases to ensure compliance with contractor management requirements, this includes Avetta, ISNetworld, Comply Works and Ariba.
Education and Experience:
  • University Degree, College or Technical Diploma in a health and safety related field, OHS Professional Certification preferred (CRSP, CSP, CIH, etc.).
  • Two years of health and safety related experience an asset.
  • Working knowledge of federal and provincial legislation, codes, standards and best practices in occupational health and safety.
  • Appropriate qualifications for work in Alberta and British Columbia, and a valid Canadian driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
Other Assets/Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to attend to detail, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including an ability to communicate professionally with clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to relate to persons at all corporate levels.
  • Proficiency in utilizing computer and web-based systems (Avetta, ISNetworld, Comply Works, Ariba, etc.).
  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently or in teams of specialists with varying levels of experience and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability and interest to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and teamwork, and an ability and interest to visit client sites.
  • Motivated self-starter with a positive attitude and a desire to take on greater responsibility and authority with increasing experience.
