Job Overview:
The Health and Safety Administrator supports the Health and Safety Manager by handling administrative tasks related to safety documentation, training coordination, and compliance tracking. This role is essential for maintaining organized records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the implementation of safety programs across construction projects.
This role is ideal for someone who is starting the health and safety career and is looking for a role that will support growth and have room for advancement.
Responsibilities
Maintain and manage document control systems for safety-related files, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and inspection reports.
Create and update JHAs and SWPs in collaboration with site supervisors and safety personnel.
Track, assign, and monitor employee training requirements and certifications.
Schedule and coordinate safety training sessions and orientations for new hires.
Complete and support internal audits for COR (Certificate of Recognition) compliance.
Assist in preparing documentation for WSIB claims and regulatory reporting.
Maintain accurate records of safety meetings, incident reports, and corrective actions.
Support the development and distribution of safety communications and bulletins.
Ensure all safety documentation is current, accessible, and compliant with Ontario's OHSA.
Liaise with external training providers and regulatory bodies as needed.
Qualifications
Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience in document control or administrative support within the construction or safety industry is an asset.
Familiarity with COR audits and Ontario health and safety legislation.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
Office-based with occasional site visits as required.
Standard business hours with flexibility for training or audit schedules.
Collaborative work environment with safety and project teams.
