Position Summary

Reporting to Director, Operational Excellence, the Head, Operational Excellence Systems will guide technical work, OE Systems design and deliver on the Operational Excellence Business Plan for the Corefco and Sherritt Fort Site organizations (\xe2\x80\x9cMetals\xe2\x80\x9d) that aligns with the overall Metals strategy. The position will also provide technical guidance and support to the Moa and Technologies Organizations for the same activities.

The position will be based out of our Fort Saskatchewan plant site.

Accountabilities

  • Implement and provide input into the Operational Excellence Business Plan for the Fort Site that aligns with the Metals overall strategy.
  • Define, develop and deliver a 3 to 12-month roadmap to achieve the objectives of the 2 year OE business plan refreshing the roadmap/plan annually to ensure relevancy and inform the budget / long range planning process.
  • Identify, design, implement and monitor the operational excellence management system elements necessary to achieve and sustain a culture of excellence.
  • Coach leaders in the development and rollout of business plans and related master schedules.
  • Develop Operational Excellence training programs to support the implementation of the OE management system elements necessary to achieve and sustain a culture of excellence with a sustained focus on continuous improvement through the use of OE techniques (such as Lean principles, Six Sigma).
  • Report and update on ongoing projects, analyze outcomes and quantify the results for the business.
  • Establish and maintain a high level of employee engagement with all OE practitioners (Fort Site based) via effective mentoring and coaching.
  • Provide experience, guidance and coaching to OE advisors on technical aspects of operational excellence methodologies including, but not limited to, statistical analysis, risk management, change management.
  • Define, develop, implement and monitor an appropriate change management and communication process ensuring effective utilization on improvement initiatives and roll out of new program at the Fort site where OE is engaged.
  • Benchmark and analyze industry best practices to recommend and develop actions necessary to achieve the strategy and objectives across Metals.
  • Recommend, develop and implement Operational Excellence management system programs, standards and procedures for use across Metals.
  • Lead OE continuous improvement events across Metals, coaching departments to gather and analyze the information necessary to identify and effectively execute on opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead complex, cross departmental, significant value improvement projects.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Recognized Continuous Improvement Certification or equivalent in Lean and Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience implementing continuous improvement principles and practices (Lean, 6S, process optimization)
  • Experience implementing systems across geographically and culturally diverse environments
  • 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 operations or service group leadership experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation an asset
  • Proven working experience in project management
  • Experience in energy, minerals or chemical production industry
  • 3 to 12-month business planning and implementation
  • Organizational change and project management skills
  • Negotiation / influencing skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal (including public speaking, and presentation skills)
  • Lean management/business improvement skills
