Job Description


Facility Association ensures the availability of automobile insurance to owners, lessees and licensed drivers of motor vehicles who are eligible. We are an unincorporated non-profit association of insurers. FA operates in Ontario, Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, Nunavut, and Northwest Territories. Every insurer licensed to write automobile liability insurance in these jurisdictions is a member of Facility Association. The affairs and business of FA is managed and controlled by a Board of Directors with authority Canada-wide. The President and CEO is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization and management of staff.

Reporting to the Director, Operational Data & Systems, the Manager, Operational Data & Systems will provide oversight to FA\'s internal Member data processes and supporting internal systems, with the objectives to ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of the team\'s data and reporting requirements.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and service providers, the Manager, Operational Data & Systems is also a key support for the department\'s operational and strategic initiatives, with a focus on development and implementation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide oversight to the data and business processes/workflows managed by the Operational Data team and their supporting internal systems, to ensure timely delivery of data and insights in meeting the team\'s data and reporting requirements,
  • Plan and coordinate team\'s operational deliverables and timeline;
  • Coordinate the investigation and resolution of issues as they arise;
  • Act as a backup support as required; and
  • Provide guidance to team members as needed.
  • Support department\'s operational and strategic initiatives, with a focus on development and implementation,
  • Support the development and implementation of complex models/processes. As directed, collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, propose solution, plan and coordinate development and delivery; and
  • Support business process improvement by collaborating with team members for ongoing process reviews, identify business opportunities, propose and implement changes and coordinate delivery.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Facility Association operational data and associated processes and systems;
  • Develop and maintain documentations (eg. business processes, system and data flow);
  • Maintain solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and service providers;
  • Support the preparation of meeting material and submissions as needed; and
  • Perform other department duties as required.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • University degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or equivalent quantitative fields;
  • At least 3-7 years work experience in the financial services industry in Canada;
  • Advanced knowledge in all aspects of data analytics & tools (Alteryx; Tableau; Power BI; Python/R) and database management (SQL; VBA); experience in developing complex ETL workflows and interactive dashboards;
  • Ability to communicate ideas and decisions clearly and effectively, with particular emphasis on strong written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude;
  • Ability to be flexible, learn quickly and adapt to changes in technology and techniques; and
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel; Access; Word; PowerPoint).
ASSETS:
  • Experience in presenting to a variety of audiences with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner;
  • Technology transformation projects involvement;
  • Experience in business system change processes and project management;
  • Ability to work well under pressure with competing deadlines;
  • Experience in Property and Casualty insurance in Canada, and experience with large scale Automobile insurance data analysis and/or management; and
  • Experience using GISA/IBC data and exhibits (i.e. Canadian automobile insurance industry statistical data).
