Our Team

Operational Excellence implements Vale Production System (VPS) at all operations worldwide. Using different methodologies, the team brainstorms ideas and guide the Culture Change. Vale partnered with Toyota to learn more about Lean methodology and today we have a team of specialists applying Lean tools.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Sr Analyst, Operational Excellence to join our Operational Excellence team in Sudbury. This is a fixed-term 20-month contract position.

You will support the implementation and consolidation of Vale Production System (VPS) in the business units through training, assessments, and process consulting to achieve Operational Excellence. Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Provide in-house training portfolio to develop leaders and teams and foster a sustainable culture of excellence;
  • Understand and adapt tactics of implementation to the cultural diversity in different regions and jurisdictions;
  • Support the VPS assessments across the business;
  • Maintain the improvements and to act as Normative of the Systems that support the management model;
  • Work directly with plant personnel to develop them (through soft and hard skill knowledge transfer) to be able to expose problems, discover root cause and implement actions to prevent reoccurrence;
  • Provide and coach individual personnel in VPS methodologies and support teams through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Train end-users in the basics of the management model such as 5S, PDCA, A3 Problem Solving and its tools;
  • Identify the most appropriate tool(s) to use to support the improvements. Recommend the necessary training for the team involved, and identify and support the monitoring of the necessary metrics to baseline, monitor and control results;
  • Facilitate in the development, facilitation and completion of continuous improvement projects using various methodologies.
  • Coordinate external benchmarking to improve the management model and tools;
  • Verify adherence with VPS.
  • Translation of operational improvement initiatives for financial and potential gains
About You

Education:
  • Undergraduate degree in related field
Experience:
  • 3 to 4 years of related work experience
Skills:
  • Ability to create networks and relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to work in collaborative environment and experience as a mentor/coach
  • Ability to transfer knowledge and provide individualized coaching
  • Creative problem solver and able to respond to various situations with appropriate urgency
  • Ability to monitor progress of teams and provide mentorship
  • Analytical thinking
  • Strong communication skills and ability to facilitate problem solving sessions
