Are you an experienced baker who brings creativity, consistency, and heart to your craft? Join L'ilette Boulangerie in the heart of Qualicum Beach as we enter an exciting new chapter, evolving from our French bakery roots into a lively cafe and bakery experience.
As our Head Baker & Pastry Lead, you will guide production, develop new recipes, and keep our bakery offerings fresh, beautiful, and consistent. From sourdough and baguettes to seasonal pies and French pastries, you will shape the flavours and feel of our cafe.
Your Role in the Bakery
Lead the preparation and baking of a variety of products including breads, pastries, desserts, and seasonal specialties
Produce high-quality sourdough, baguettes, and other artisan loaves with skill and consistency
Bring creativity to both classic French pastries and new menu ideas, such as pies, tarts, and seasonal treats
Oversee all stages of production, ensuring quality, timing, and efficiency
Manage ingredient ordering, inventory rotation, and waste reduction
Maintain a clean, food-safe, and organized workspace
Mentor and support the assistant baker and kitchen team
Collaborate with ownership and cafe leadership to plan weekly offerings and specials
Our Hours
Tuesday to Saturday, early mornings starting at 3:00/4:00 AM
Morning and weekend availability required
What You Bring
Proven experience as a Lead Baker, Pastry Chef, or similar role
Strong technical foundation in artisan bread and pastry production
Experience with sourdough, baguettes, and other naturally leavened loaves is essential
Familiarity with French baking or viennoiserie is an asset
Creativity with pies, tarts, and seasonal baking is highly valued
Leadership skills with the ability to train and inspire others
Strong organization, time management, and communication skills
Food Safe Level 1 (or willingness to obtain)
Passion for quality, creativity, and consistency
