Guest Services Assistant


Position Summary


The Guest Services Assistant is an enthusiastic, customer service driven position that is responsible for supporting the daily operations of Guest Services, its members, and the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre (GWHCGC) as a whole.



This position is also responsible for assisting members and the public, processing memberships, tracking and monitoring facility and equipment use, and other duties as required. This position reports directly to the Guest Services Lead Attendant.


Position Responsibilities


May be tasked to do any of the following duties:



Guest Services Operations & Customer Service:


Enters data and information into the registration, management and scheduling system setting up clients and member profiles for the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. Provides an excellent customer service experience to all members and guests of the GWHCGC which includes, the sale of locker services, towel services and Fitness Centre Memberships. In-depth knowledge of the registration processes, inventory management system software, scheduling system functionality including drop-in attendance, membership sales, sign-in/sign out processes and inquiries as required. Ongoing understanding of the business of the Centre including a strong knowledge of facility layout, programs, internal & external facility bookings, public and special events schedules, and facility website updates with the ability to communicate any of these to all members and guests of the Centre. Ongoing understanding of group fitness programming, personal training, facility bookings and all internal and external College events; including verbal promotion of fitness classes & personal training to new & existing members. Under the direction of the Lead Attendant, this position supports and collaborates with RDP Athletics to monitor the team's home and away schedules and perform the following services: + Launder of team uniforms.
+ Initiate uniform repairs.
+ Prepares team bags for team travel.
+ Inventory tracking of uniforms and equipment
Responsible for daily cash handling and cash-out procedures. Accurately completes daily cash deposits and ensuring deposits and floats are secured in the safe. Assist the Administrative Officer, Fitness & Sport Services of the daily updating of information for the Centre LCD Screens. Replenish and keep tidy all printed customer information such as brochure racks and bulletin boards. Ensure Guest Services is tidy and orderly. Responsible for submitting maintenance request forms and forwarding malfunctioning equipment status sheets to the appropriate department (BEST, BGIS) Continuous communication with Sports Services regarding gym status and daily drop in leisure scheduling. Front line support for Gary W. Harris program inquiries, responding to instructor & student requests for classes. Collect and dispose of lost & found items as well as removal of expired locks on lockers. Provides ice to athletes and members as needed. Other duties as required specific to break coverage.


Event Set Up & Take Down:

Support the Sport Services Attendants with the set-up and take-down of equipment, turning performance gym lights on and off, raising and lowering of basketball hoops, changeover of nets and other sport practices, etc. as required during peak periods and/or unexpected absences.

Health & Safety:

Responsible for filing, damaged equipment tracking and other related administrative tasks. Assume responsibility for the Health and Safety of all guests, members and athletes through their awareness, proactivity, and response to a wide variety of situations in the Centre as per Red Deer Polytechnic Emergency Response Plan. Demonstrate safe work practices by completing monthly workplace inspections, participating in facility fire and emergency evacuation drills, and ensuring safe work practices at the Centre as per Red Deer Polytechnic Emergency Response Plan. Activate emergency procedures as needed or directed by their supervisor.


Required Qualifications


High school diploma or equivalent to about 12 years of schooling Level 3 CPR is desired Ability to multi-task Customer service background/above average oral skills Ability to communicate effectively Computer skills in Microsoft Office Safety awareness Technical knowledge and proficiency

Benefits and Compensation Information


An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
