Spruce Meadows is looking for Guest Services Assistants to support several events over the summer. The role is ideal for those looking for short-term work during the summer and looking to build their customer service/ event management skills and experience.

Position

: Temporary, Part Time

Period 1 (54 hours):

Tuesday 10th June (12pm - 4pm) - training day and uniform allocation

Friday 13th June (12pm - 9pm)

Saturday 14th June (10am - 6pm)

Sunday 15th June (10am - 4pm)

Friday 4th July (10am - 7pm)

Saturday 5th July (8am - 5pm)

Sunday 6th July (8am - 5pm)

Hours subject to change

Period 2 (40 hours):

Friday 29th August (12pm - 4pm) - training day and uniform allocation

Wednesday 3rd September (10am - 5pm)

Thursday 4th September (10am - 5pm)

Friday 5th September (1pm - 9pm)

Saturday 6th September (10am - 4pm)

Sunday 7th September (8am - 4pm)


Hours subject to change

Applicants need to be available for the entire duration of Period 1 or 2. Preference will be given to candidates available for both

Wage

: $20 per hour

Overtime paid in accordance with Alberta employment standards

Role/ Responsibilities (included, but are not limited to):

Answering guest inquiries (providing directions and information as needed) Checking tickets and accreditation are valid for different areas within the venue Ensure guest safety by communicating health and safety policy to guests and reporting risks and violations Working with security staff to highlight any security risks or concerns Be proactive in assisting guests. Going above and beyond.

Minimum Requirements

18 years of age Spoken English ability Full availability during Period 1 or 2 Reliable transport plan for duration of period (there is no public transit available to Spruce Meadows) Be legally entitled to work for any employer in Canada Have a Canadian Social Insurance Number Have a Canadian bank account in your own name Comfortable spending extended periods standing Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Strong communication skills and confidence in engaging with members of the public Willing to abide by dress code (smart business and Spruce Meadows provided company blazer)

Experience

Relevant experience is not required but is an asset to an application. Relevant experience is classed as any customer-facing role including but not limited to waiting staff/ server, shop cashier/ front counter, volunteer fundraiser etc.
