Summary

Duration: Approximately 4 months Business: Grid Automation North America, a regional operating unit of Grid Solutions, a Division of GE Renewable Energy Location: Markham, Ontario Canada
Reports to: Sukhdip Bal, Grid Automation North America Finance Leader Protection, Automation and Control (\xe2\x80\x9cPAC\xe2\x80\x9d), is a product line of the Grid Automation operating unit within GE Grid Solutions. As part of the Grid Automation product line, PAC is am integral part of the go to market strategy in North America. Key Accountabilities and Deliverables (Periodic):
  • Support the Senior Staff Analyst and Senior Finance Manager with reporting, tracking, analysis of selling, general and admin costs, headcount and other ad-hoc tasks for the Markham site and Grid Automation NAM
  • Support billing quality in the resolution of billing disputes and in managing the Billing Quality dashboard.
  • Consolidate and bifurcate data from various sources for stakeholders across the business.
  • Perform preliminary audits to validate commission calculation and underlying data to support channel representative payments.
  • Evaluate and make the necessary journal entries to reallocate costs and revenue to appropriate functions and product lines.
  • Complete ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide analysis and determine revenue/cost of shipment deferrals to comply with US GAAP revenue recognition reporting.
  • Play a crucial role in managing Fixed Assets in Business, maintaining transparency and control through independent verification of items (audit) and tracking financial tags attached to the assets.
Project/Cyclical Accountabilities: Controllership:
  • Audit the accuracy of the operational cycle count programs of inventory used in the Supply Chain.
  • Active participation in the planning and execution in the annual physical inventory count.
  • Reporting of aging of internal receivables and following up with counter parties in Supply Chain or the Commercial Trading Units to settle the invoices.
Financial Planning & Operations:
  • Reporting variable cost productivity for execution of the Supply Chain Financial Operating Plan. Identifying opportunities to improve execution or reduce poor cost of quality. Leading implementation of the opportunities to reduce the cost footprint.
  • Analyze significant cost pools such as freight and scrap to identify waste, redundancy through root cause analysis of the spend in these pools.
  • Support Operating Plan and operating blueprint as required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Enrolled in a Commerce or Accounting program, 4th year preferred
  • Some previous experience working within finance or accounting
  • Expectation to work on-site at Markham office minimum of two days per week (potential to increase days on-site as business COVID restrictions change)

  • Strong analytic skills combined with strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Experience using of data query tools, ERPs, spread sheets and MS Office.
  • Experience dealing with auditors and other financial stakeholders.
  • Some weekend and/or holiday work may be required due to financial deadlines
