THE OPPORTUNITY

Western is currently recruiting for a Corporate Finance Intern to join our team in Vancouver, BC on a 6 or 8 month contract.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do: The Finance Intern is responsible for supporting accounting, tax, reporting, internal control and other finance streams through a variety of tasks which will support the development and enhancement of the individual\xe2\x80\x99s financial and analytical skills.

Who You Are: This is a great opportunity for a 3rd or 4th-year university student, recent graduate or someone with 1-2 years of experience in finance or administration to enhance their financial and analytical skills. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented and has strong working knowledge of MS Office applications.

Work Environment: This position is based out of our Vancouver Corporate Office and due to the high volume of paperwork and crossover work within the finance teams, the incumbent will be required to work in office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the preparation of tax filings and analysis;
  • Analyze information in support of reporting cycle and audits;
  • Perform reporting tie-out to supporting documents;
  • Roll forward reporting cycle documents;
  • Support with financial budgets, forecasts and cash tax projections;
  • Support continuous improvement of policies, processes and internal controls;
  • Support preparation of quarterly and annual reports, surveys and duty/jurisdictional requests;
  • Other duties, including tax compliance project work, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a college diploma or university degree in accounting, finance, business or related program (equivalent experiences will be considered);
  • Experience in financial, business services and/or tax capacity a definite asset; and,
  • 1-2 years of experience in a clerical/administrative function and/or experience in accounts payable would be considered a definite asset, but is not required.
Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • High level or accuracy and an outstanding attention to detail;
  • A good working knowledge of MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word);
  • Detail focused and strong ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines and prioritize tasks;
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, including building relationships with vendors and government agencies.
