Within the context of a client service culture and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Forms and Graphics Designer is responsible for providing consultation and development/ modification of all forms and desktop publishing documents as well as a variety of administrative duties. Utilizes industry standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Quark, and Microsoft Office Suite to examine and evaluate the design and function of all electronic and paper based forms to improve efficiency and effectiveness while supporting Lower Mainland Printing Services.


What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do
  • Designs and develops customized electronic and paper based forms to meet organizational standards using a variety of industry specific application software such as. (InDesign, Quark, Illustrator, Publisher, Microsoft Suite).
  • Consults with client departments at various locations on functional design of organizational forms, desktop publishing documents and proofing with emphasis on standardization and cost containment.
  • Creates and maintains forms/desktop publishing operating standards in support of Printing Services and customer requirements.
  • Supports customers by providing guidance and assistance in preparing printing requisitions and related forms required for production.
  • Maintains and updates inventory register/database and filing electronic or hardcopy for forms and desktop publishing documents.
  • Types a variety of documents such as memos and reports.
  • Conducts annual forms audit with client departments to review forms for content design and/or redundancy.
  • Maintains statistical data related to workload and production.
  • Maintains timekeeping records for staff and submits to payroll.
  • Receives and processes requests such as vacation, leave of absence and terminations by preparing appropriate documentation, making necessary calculations such as seniority and vacation entitlements and forwarding to appropriate authority for approval.
  • Supports Printing Services operations by processing requisitions and assisting in document output.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.



What you bring


Qualifications
  • Successful completion of post-secondary forms and graphic design courses.
  • 2 years of graphic design and desktop experience and/or a combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to type 55 WPM.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Preferred experience with or knowledge of medical and scientific technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and set priorities and to plan, coordinate and organize work.
  • Skilled in producing documents using a variety of computer programs.
  • Expertise in planning and creating professional, high-quality print materials.
  • Expertise in providing information on design possibilities for clients (many of whom are unsure of what they really want)!
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC\'s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Job Type: Casual (Casual is defined as on call with no guaranteed hours. Shifts can be called out via short call (1-5 hours of notice) or pre-booked).
Wage: $30.54/hour + 13% in lieu
Location: 855 West 12th Avenue, Vancouver, V5Z 1M9 (Vancouver General Hospital)
Hours of Work: 0800:1600, Monday-Friday
