Our commitment to employment equity helps achieve inclusion and fairness, brings rich diversity to UBC as a workplace, and creates the necessary conditions for a rewarding career.Job SummaryThe Grants Assistant & KT Coordinator will be responsible for editing scientific grants, preparing CVs and managing the submission of various research-related documents within the Centre for heart Lung Innovation (HLI).Major responsibilities include but are not limited to: identifying and coordinating research grant and academic proposals, letters of intent, background documentation, research program rationales, and other documents.Organizational StatusReporting directly to the Director or their designate, this position assists the research grants administrative functions of the Centre, ensuring effective and efficient administrative functions in support of the Director\xe2\x80\x99s office.Work Performed- Assist in identifying, developing, and writing research grants, academic proposals, and other related documents.
- Act as liaison with investigators and staff to translate research initiatives, concepts and results into written documentation, and disseminating information.
- Develop timelines and framework for grant deadlines.
- Develop knowledge translation strategies based on research produced by the research program (i.e., articles, blogs, social media content).
- Manages HLI\xe2\x80\x99s website (www.HLI.com), overseeing graphic design and content.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the HLI Director or their delegates.Consequence of Error/JudgementThis work requires excellent judgement, initiative, and attention to detail, and the ability to engage in a collaborative and respectful manner. The inability to perform the job tasks may impact negatively on the successes of HLI and errors could seriously jeopardize the reputation of HLI Investigator and the University.Supervision ReceivedThis position receives direction from the HLI Director and Associate Director, the HLI Director of Operations, as well as the HLI Grants Team members.Supervision GivenNoneMinimum QualificationsUndergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one\xe2\x80\x99s own- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one\xe2\x80\x99s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusionPreferred Qualifications

  • Ability to keyboard at 50 WPM.
  • Demonstrated ability at the senior administrative level and to provide support to Director and/or Operations Director.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to use and post on internet and social media platforms
  • Ability to plan, organize, problem-solve and prioritize work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, and with minimal supervision.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate complex meetings with internal and external contacts.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills using a variety of computerized software packages such as Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Visio, Outlook & Schedule +, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer and other Windows software packages.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
