Position Summary: Under the direction of the Manager, Operations and Finance, the Global Communications Coordinator (Coordinator) maximizes and increases the visibility of all Global activities and is responsible for coordinating the Global Partnerships & Education (Global) unit\xe2\x80\x99s marketing and communications activities and deliverables. The Coordinator will also develop a suite of communications tools for both internal and external audiences, related to the promotion of Global activities and international student recruitment, and ultimately will lead their deployment.
Key responsibilities:

  • Develops and coordinates a broad range of communication strategies in support of the priorities identified in the Global Engagement Plan.
  • Leads the development, preparation, and distribution of an external-facing communication tool to increase engagement with George Brown College academic, research, and community engagement collaboration opportunities for current and potential partners and stakeholders.
  • Leads the development, preparation, and distribution of an internal-facing communication tool to inform, engage, and drive involvement by GBC community on global partnerships, global learning and intercultural engagement initiatives, and international student enrolment and retention activities.
  • Leads the development and preparation of a series of annual reports highlighting and summarizing progress on George Brown\xe2\x80\x99s progress on the priorities identified through the Global Engagement Plan (annual report, GBC country-by-country engagement summary, the year in Global Learning, etc.).
  • Leads the development of all communications collateral for both internal and external events (e.g., Global Week, Discovery Days, fairs, etc.).
  • Acts as liaison between Global Partnerships & Education and the Marketing & Communications team to ensure marketing collateral is of high quality, accurate, and delivered on time for all global activities.
  • Develops an annual plan, for Global Partnerships & Education marketing collateral requirements, in collaboration with Directors and coordinates production timetable in collaboration with central Marketing and Communications team.
  • Leads the development of templates and provides guidance on their use to regional teams.
  • Reviews and provides feedback on all proposed social media material including contests/events with the international student groups, in association with the BDOs and social media teams.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in Digital Management, Communications, or Marketing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working within a global context including one or more of international recruitment, global learning, partnership development and/or global marketing.
  • High proficiency and track record of experience in social media applications, multimedia marketing, management, and content creation (e.g., for Weibo, WeChat, Tik Tok, Naver, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Mac OS applications. Familiarity with graphic design and video editing tools.
  • Office experience, including experience in providing high level customer service to a diverse clientele in a service setting, managing a high volume of work under deadlines.
  • Experience in client relationship development and maintenance.
  • Excellent knowledge of relational database and demonstrated experience in working in a team environment.

Skills and Attributes:


  • Demonstrated advanced English oral and written communications in a professional environment, and demonstrated fluency in speaking and writing in an additional language is strongly preferred.
  • Solid collaboration, teamwork, and people skills. Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Excellent time management, event management, organizational and data collection skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail managing a high volume of work under deadlines.
  • Ability to project manage several competing priorities.
  • Able to lift between 20 kg or 44 lbs (ex. Boxes of marketing materials, etc.).
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College\xe2\x80\x99s priorities on diversity and equity.
