We are looking to strengthen our team with the addition of a Geomatics Programming Analyst.Primary AccountabilitiesWe are looking for a geomatics programming professional to work with team members to develop, support and improve geomatics software that is critical to delivering government programs and services.xc2xb7 Translate business needs into technical requirements.xc2xb7 Design, configure, and maintain custom geomatics applications and software.xc2xb7 Develop secure custom applications, reusable components and integrate with internal and external services and APIs.xc2xb7 Assist in the development of geomatics application architecture strategies, policies, and guidelines.xc2xb7 Assist with client need assessments/evaluations for geomatics websites, applications, and data models, ensuring optimization, and efficiency.xc2xb7 Read, write, and debug code written for geomatics software, applications, and utilities.xc2xb7 Test applications for/with clients and partners.Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will have a bachelors degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of three (3) years experience or graduation from a recognized technology program plus three (3) years and six (6) months of experience (or the equivalent combination of training and experience).xc2xb7 Skilled using programming languages relevant to designing and building custom software. in an Esri based geomatics environment including .NET, JavaScript, and Python.xc2xb7 Experience developing custom applications.xc2xb7 Understanding of Geographic Information Systems, geographic data, and related principals.xc2xb7 Understanding of relational database technology and how to integrate with Geographic Information Systems.xc2xb7 Strong inter-personal skills to maintain positive and trusted partner relationships.xc2xb7 Understanding of municipal utility mapping would be an asset.EquivalencyApplicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.BenefitsBased on the employment status and union agreement, the Government of Nova Scotia offers its employees a wide range of benefits such as a , Health, Dental, Life Insurance, General illness, Short and Long Term Disability, Vacation and Employee and Family Assistance Programs.
