The Town of Faro is a safe and vibrant community nestled amidst the spectacular mountain views of central Yukon. The Town is adjacent to the Pelly River and offers affordable housing, extensive recreation opportunities, along with an enviable Yukon lifestyle.



Reporting directly to the CAO, the General Manager of Finance will be responsible for managing all aspects of municipal financial operations and staff in the Finance Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in Finance,



Accounting, or Business Administration or a combination of training and experience in municipal finance. The ideal candidate will have excellent organization and communication skills, supervisory experience and a robust understanding of finance, strategic and critical thinking skills.

What we are looking for is a candidate with:

A university degree or college diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. A CPA or CA is desirable but not required. Previous finance and accounting experience (5+ years) Previous supervisory and management experience (3+ years) The ability to think critically, make sound recommendations, effectively manage change, while working within the legislative and policy framework. Thorough knowledge of finance, purchasing, accounting, and auditing principles and practices, applicable legislation/regulatory standards, investments, territorial grant processes, property taxation, budget formulation and management, and local government functions and responsibilities. Experience communicating with the public and working with councils and committees. Knowledge of Safe Work legislation and implementing safe work practices into the workplace and the ability to work effectively within a union environment.
