Adecco is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced General Accountant to join our clients team in Vaughan, ON. This is a full-time position offering an annual salary of 60,000 CAD. As a General Accountant, you will play a vital role in maintaining financial accuracy, managing tax filings, and contributing to the success of the organization. Responsibilities: As a General Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Performing bank reconciliations to the General Ledger, investigating, and resolving discrepancies, and assisting with cash management activities.
  • Preparing monthly tax filings for provincial and federal governments.
  • Analyzing PST exempt and discount transactions, identifying discrepancies, and liaising with the Director of Retail Sales and Operations.
  • Assisting in journal entry preparation and posting, along with performing account analyses.
  • Overseeing and participating in biweekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, and assisting with year-end payroll-related activities.
  • Processing accounts payable invoices, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to payment terms.
  • Providing exceptional service to internal departments, stores, and employees, promptly addressing information requests.
  • Participating in special projects and recommending improvements to Finance practices and systems.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
  • Equivalent of a post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting, bookkeeping, business, or finance-related field.
  • Must have at least 3 to 5 years of relevant full-cycle accounting experience, preferably in a small-to-medium size entrepreneurial business with exposure to account reconciliations, payroll, and cash accounting.
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and practices, with exposure to PayWeb being advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and V-lookups; familiarity with macros is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in fluent English.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to escalate issues when necessary.
  • Collaborative interpersonal skills, capable of working with Finance, management, and retail teams.
  • High level of discretion, integrity, and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach, both in independent work and team collaboration.
