Who we are:



The Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia (EFMNS) is a non-profit, charitable organization that serves vulnerable women, girls, trans, and gender diverse people. Our goal is to foster our clients' reintegration, rehabilitation, and personal empowerment and to address the root causes of criminalization. The clients we support are often at a high risk of returning to the cycle of poverty, homelessness and self-harm that can cause criminalization. We are devoted to improving the lives of our clients and all community members through comprehensive housing supports, innovative programming initiatives, justice system reform and through building individual strength and capacity in all of the client we serve. EFMNS provides the structure for our clients to transform their lives from a cycle of poverty and insecurity to one of stability, growth and hope.

Responsibilities:



The Fundraising Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director. Key responsibilities may include:

Soliciting donations from private donors, foundations, and other potential funding sources to support EFMNS' work; Building and maintaining strong, long-term donor relationships; Planning, organizing, and administering large-scale fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives, including a planned giving program; Expanding opportunities for donor contributions, such as gifts of stocks, securities, or life insurance policies; and Engaging EFMNS volunteers and Board members in supporting fundraising initiatives.

Term and Compensation:



This is a part-time term position, with the potential to become full-time and permanent upon sufficient funds being secured through the successful candidate's work.

Working Conditions:



Hours are flexible, provided the candidate is able to communicate and collaborate with staff and others as required by job responsibilities. Candidate is expected to work at least four (4) hours per week at the EFMNS main office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm). Other hours may be remote and flexible. Dress may be casual.

Salary:

Competitive, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Compensation will be discussed with prospective candidates.

Qualifications:



- 5-10 years experience in fundraising roles, including experience with capital campaigns, planned giving, and non-traditional means of donations (e.g. donations of stocks);

- Established relationships with private donors and foundations;

- Strong written and oral communication skills;

- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage several deadlines;

- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently; and

- Experience working with non-profit or charitable organizations is preferred.

Experience with social media and creating graphics and video content is an asset.

Priority will be given to qualified candidates who are Indigenous, Black/African Nova Scotia, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, have a disability, or have lived experience with criminalization or incarceration.
