Job Summary:



The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and training of kitchen staff, in addition to the production, quality assurance, and profitability of all menu items. Reporting directly to the Food Services Manager, the Kitchen Supervisor will assist in the creation of recipes, supervise line cooks to ensure quality control, and ensure compliance to organic standards.

Responsibilities:



Supervise all kitchen personnel to ensure correct department prep and cooking methods and procedures are followed. Assist in food preparation when required. Ensures proper storage method of food ingredients in their designated area and ensuring that they are rotated properly. Safely uses kitchen equipment which includes, but are not limited to, dishwasher, oven, stove (gas top), knives, robocoup, hand shredder, and small grader. In order to adhere to food health and safety standards, maintain a clean and safe work area and ensure proper cleaning of kitchen equipment. Handles and trains other staff to clean kitchen equipment carefully and safely to prevent damage or injury. Prioritize and delegate tasks in kitchen layout and prep. Works efficiently and effectively with other staff members to uphold organic standards while producing the highest quality food items. Provide excellent customer service when in contact with customers or other staff. Assist with menu planning and maintaining a high level of quality and profitability in all food offerings. Provide input in the development of new menu items. Understand and observe all policies & procedures with regards to operations, health & safety, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act Any other job related duties assigned by the Food Services Manager

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:



Minimum 1 year of previous cook experience. Supervisory/management experience is an asset. Experience in preparing vegetarian dishes and/or working with organic foods is an asset. Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Willingness to be flexible with roles to include interactions with customers and other guests. Ability to work under pressure and take initiative in a fast paced kitchen environment. Positive attitude and ability to provide constructive feedback in the supervision and direction of line cooks and kitchen attendants.
