POSITION SUMMARY
Shapes the restaurant-goer's experience by maintaining the dining room's appearance, taking and delivering orders, and ensuring superior customer service.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cash & Inventory
Responsible for the correct operation of the POS system
Balances all daily and nightly cash drawers
Maintains inventory list for front of house items
Space
Responsible for cleanliness and general appearance of: patio and entrance area, entry, counter, cash area, floor and rugs, bathrooms, walls and windows
Responsible for signage related to food, including blackboards
Check tables and chairs for cleanliness in the morning, and clean after each customer leaves
Vacuum/sweep and mop the floors after closing each day
Ensure the Bistro looks clean and uncluttered.
Food
Liaise with the kitchen staff to ensure an efficient and seamless service
Ensure food is delivered promptly so it is still hot (if applicable)
Be knowledgeable about the ingredients in all dishes and baked goods so you can explain to customers
Be aware of any allergens in any foods and caution customers (if appropriate)
Customer Service
SMILE
Manage online and telephone orders
Greet all guests warmly on arrival
Take orders, serve meals and clear tables
Encourage other sales (if appropriate)
Respond quickly and sympathetically to any customer concerns
Ensure each guest feels valued and important
Health & Safety
Enforce and monitor all health, safety, and sanitation standards in your area
Check bathrooms regularly and ensure they are clean and have appropriate provisions (or delegate as appropriate)
Other
Provide photos, stories, quotes, videos for Facebook and other social media efforts as directed
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Specific employment conditions of the Front of House position include the following:
Able to work flexible hours and days Must stand and walk for most of the day
Valid Ontario Driver's License and reliable car
Criminal Record Check
Hours of work: 8 am - 3:30 pm with half hour lunch
Days of work: as needed (to support busy times, cover illnesses and vacations, etc)
Estimated time: typically 2-3 days a week during the busier months.

willing to work mornings, Saturdays and the odd catered event as needed.
