Left Field Brewery is a small, community-minded business with a mission to create joy through beer. We also happen to love baseball, a theme that is interwoven through all facets of our brand. Left Field Brewery - Liberty Village is a 300 seat, two storey, brewery, tap room and kitchen emphasizing high quality craft beer, food and brand experiences. It's a space to connect over a beer and to catch the game while cheering on the home team. As an extension of our existing brewery and Tap Room, we are in search of an Assistant Manager to operate our Liberty Village location.

Summary


The position of Assistant Manager is designed to provide the second level of support to the General Manager in maintaining and executing Left Field's standards for food, service and atmosphere. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the smooth execution and organization of all restaurant operations, as well as providing a supporting role in the delivery of a fun and memorable guest experience. The position acts as a role model, coach, leader, and ambassador for Left Field Brewery: Liberty Village team.

The Assistant Manager is also responsible for service and product quality, labour and beverage controls and related costs. This position plays a key role in the management of our bar and beverage programs; including supporting the promotion of new beer or feature beer launches, weekly event programming, and maintaining an active sales role in promoting beer-to-go sales via FOH teammates and team initiatives.

Responsibilities


- Leads the team with enthusiasm, energy and demonstrates a genuine positive demeanor
- Ensures every guest receives the desired Left Field Brewery brand experience and leaves eager to both return and recommend the brand and establishment to others
- Manage and oversee the service, food and beverage operations through action with presence on the floor during service periods.
- Works with the General Manager and AGM to ensure a working environment that is safe, inclusive and collaborative with team members at all levels, promoting a culture of positivity and development from within
- Uphold systems and standards of FOH operations by leading with professional examples; performing spot-checks for quality and cleanliness
- Accountable for supporting standards of cleanliness, timing, uniform, grooming, organization, production, food and beverage quality, and consistency
- Expected to train all FOH positions, systems, and use of equipment
- Creates and maintains FOH standard operating procedures (SOPs), training documents, policies and procedures
- Participates in FOH teammate performance reviews and disciplinary actions, as needed
- Supervise and prepare FOH cleaning schedules and side duty lists
- Responsible for checking all fridge temperatures are logged in a timely manner
- Actively manages daily FOH labour costs
- Assists with preparation of weekly FOH schedule to maximize both productivity and cost controls
- Supports achievement of budgets in area of the FOH labour, beverage costs and purchasing
- Supports coverage of personnel-related GM and AGM duties for the FOH team during emergency and personal absence and vacation periods, including but not limited to leading pre-shift team huddles.

Education and Experience


- Minimum of 3 years of Food and Beverage management experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Front-of-House management position
- Experience in a new restaurant opening is an asset
- Experience in a restaurant and brewery operation is an asset
- Proficient computer skills including but not limited to: Toast POS, inventory software, Google Drive (and associated programs like docs, slides and sheets)
- Food Safety Certificate, Smart Serve and W.H.M.I.S.
- Knowledge of draught systems
- Must be able to move items weighing 140lbs from ground level to hand carts and up/down staircases
- Must be able to stand and move for extended periods of time to continuously perform essential job functions
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs
