Job Description

We are seeking a Hungarian-English telephone Interpreter for an entry-level opportunity. This role requires strong spoken and comprehension skills in both Hungarian and English. Previous interpreting experience (2-4 years) is preferred but not mandatory.

As a Telephone Interpreter, you will provide on-demand interpretation services, accurately conveying conversations between Hungarian- and English-speaking parties. Interpreters must be able to think quickly, communicate clearly, and maintain professionalism while being sensitive to cultural nuances at all times.

Interpretation assignments may cover both simple and complex topics across various sectors, including Healthcare, Government Services, Insurance, Law Enforcement, General Business, and others.

Work Location

This is a remote position. Interpreters work from home or another private location. A quiet, secure environment is essential. Interpreters are encouraged to use note pads, writing tools, glossaries, and dictionaries as needed.

Responsibilities:

Accurately interpret spoken content between Hungarian and English while preserving meaning, tone, clarity, and intent Apply correct grammar, syntax, and terminology in both languages Deliver excellent customer service with clear pronunciation, professional tone, and courteous communication Demonstrate knowledge of protocols and terminology in industries such as Healthcare, Insurance, Finance, and Legal services Remain calm, neutral, and professional during high-pressure or sensitive calls, including emergency (911) situations Follow client instructions and interpretation guidelines consistently

Qualifications and Skills:

Native or near-native fluency in both Hungarian and English Strong understanding of cultural context, idiomatic expressions, and cultural nuances in both languages Excellent listening, memory retention, and note-taking abilities Familiarity with industry-specific terminology and willingness to engage in ongoing training and self-study Ability to remain impartial, focused, and objective throughout calls Ability to follow client's instructions closely Education in languages, interpretation, or a related field is an asset but not required
