Overview:

We are looking for fluent

Portuguese-English speakers

to join our team in a remote, entry-level interpreting role. While prior interpreting experience (minimum one year) is preferred, it is not required. What's essential is strong verbal communication and listening skills in both languages.

As a

Telephone Interpreter

, you will facilitate real-time conversations between PORTUGUESE and English speakers over the phone. Your role will be to ensure accurate, clear, and impartial interpretation--preserving the original tone, intent, and meaning--while maintaining professionalism and cultural sensitivity, even in challenging or emotional situations.

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately interpret spoken communication between English and PORTUGUESE Maintain the original tone, grammar, and intent across both languages Handle a variety of call topics, including healthcare, legal, and emergency services Communicate clearly, respectfully, and with professional demeanor Use appropriate industry-specific terminology and reference materials as needed Stay calm, neutral, and focused during high-stress or sensitive calls Follow client protocols and provide cultural context to aid understanding

Required Qualifications:

Fluency in both PORTUGUESE and English, with strong speaking and comprehension skills Deep understanding of cultural nuances and idiomatic expressions in both languages Excellent active listening, note-taking, and memory skills Eagerness to learn and apply specialized terminology Ability to remain objective, discreet, and fully engaged throughout interpretation sessions
