What you will be doing:
  • Reporting to the Assistant General Manager and General Manager of Notch8 Restaurant & Bar, In-Room Dining, and Refreshment Center
  • Consistently offering professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Leading the Notch8 Restaurant and In-Rooming Dining teams in all aspects of the department and ensuring service standards are followed
  • Ensuring Food & Beverage relevant brand standards are maintained
  • Strategizing on new products and service offerings
  • Creating unforgettable experiences for our guests
  • Handling guest concerns and reacting quickly and professionally
  • Supporting recruitment and training of all Notch8 Restaurant & In-Room Dining Colleagues
  • Balancing operational, administrative, and Colleague needs
  • Attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings
  • Maximize revenues by communicating regularly with the Food and Beverage teams to implement agreed upon strategies, practices and promotions
  • Maintaining full knowledge of all Notch8 Restaurant and In-Room Dining menus
  • Assisting in managing the departmental budget
  • Following all hotel and F&B policies and procedures
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Being well educated in our Fairmont Service Standards and be able to provide on the spot feedback to colleagues
  • All other duties and projects as assigned
Your experience and skills include:
  • Service focused personality is essential and previous restaurant leadership experience required
  • Previous experience working in a hotel and/or unionized environment is an asset
  • Previous bartending experience and cocktail creation an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of spirits, wine, and beer required
  • Previous point of sale system experience required
  • Computer literate using Microsoft Office suite required
  • Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders
  • Communicate thoughts, actions and opportunities clearly with strong networking skills
  • Ability to lead by example, believe in a strong team culture and set the scene for high performance
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, early morning and late night shifts
Visa Requirements: Must already be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
