1st

and

2nd Shift role.

Hours would be

9am to 5pm (first shift)

and

3:00 pm -10:30 pm or when deliveries are completed (second shift). Two hours of overlap time will be provided each day with the first shift.

POSITION SUMMARY

Viaflex Solutions Ltd. is looking for a key team member to join a fun, motivated team dedicated to changing the world of digital flexographic platemaking.

Are you a technically inclined person looking to start or resume a career in the world of printing? We are seeking motivated individuals for the role of Plate Maker. You'll be operating Flexographic Computer-To-Plate equipment imaging photopolymer plates from digital files, to produce flexographic printing plates. You'll be responsible for quality control of digital artwork by reviewing files that have been created by our artists for errors and measuring distortion for the Flexographic printing process. You'll also maintain production-related documentation, replenish chemical solutions in automatic plate processors, and perform light maintenance on equipment.

Responsibilities for the second shift include packaging final product and delivering them at the end of the shift with the company car. Delivery areas are across the GTA.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with with an understanding of computers, the ability to measure and do basic math, and most importantly, the desire to learn new skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Sort and prioritizes orders by urgency, plate preference and plate thickness. Inspect digital artwork for errors and measure for distortion (Quality Control). Reviews order to determine plate material and thickness. Operates imagers, exposure units, processor and dryer/finishing unit to process photopolymer plates. Operates distillation system to recycle and produce clean solvent. Handling plates with care. Maintains inventory control to ensure that plate and processing materials are always on hand and available for the manufacturing process. Determines exposure times necessary to produce quality plates. Inspects and cleans photopolymer after post exposure to identify imperfections in the plates. Package finished plates and identify customer. Driving product at end of shift to customers in company car. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, monitors and corrects unsafe conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

Industry experience preferred. High School Diploma or greater preferred. Ontario Drivers License with clean record. 1+ years of previous experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience Basic degree of proficiency with computers and trouble shooting skills. Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills. Good verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning). Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts. Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients. Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. Ability to work with and influence peers and management. Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting. Possess a mechanical aptitude. Ability to work overtime as necessary.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly required to stand, walk and sit. This is an active, quick paced position. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
